Upstream E&P Technology Writer
Our client is an international oilfield services corporation, which produces a quarterly publication for distribution to their employees and clients.  They are looking for 2 additional writers, with extensive industry experience, to join their publication’s staff. (One in the Houston, TX area and one in the Cambridge, England area.) This is a direct-hire opportunity.

Education: A technical degree (engineering or scientific field) is required. A degree at the master’s level or above is preferred.
Â
Language: A native English speaker is best, but exceptions may exist.
Â
Experience: 5 to 10 years technical experience—preferably in exploration and production activities in which our client is active—is expected. Candidates with published technical papers of their own work are preferred.

Attributes: Successful candidates will have the abilities to collaborate with other team members client sources, integrate information effectively, communicate skillfully, handle criticism well, enjoy learning, meet deadlines, and write well or write at an above average level and be willing to learn to write well. Job DescriptionEditors are responsible for creating articles.Participate in development of editorial plan.Research assigned articles by interviewing technical experts within the client's organizations, and by reading technical papers.Write articles.Assemble or create drafts of graphics for design firm to make graphics for articles.Send article drafts to technical experts and other editors for review.Edit drafts based on review feedback.Approve layout of articles created by graphic design firm.
Editors typically create three or four articles per year.

Editors review the work of other editors, and most editors have an ancillary project, such as the Oilfield Glossary, distribution or oversight of the client's web pages.

The group also creates electronic articles, specifically created for the Web, and creates corporate strategy statements. These duties are rotated among the staff.
