Training Instructor Job Description POSITION:  Senior InstructorDEPARTMENT: Training DepartmentREPORTS TO: Training Manager JOB DESCRIPTION:  In a professional classroom environment, train personnel whose duties include, operating, maintaining and repairing equipment. Work closely with engineers, service/repair representatives and assembly personnel to gain all the latest data and techniques available. Provide a complete understanding of how our equipment operates and the most time saving methods developed to carry out service, maintenance and repair projects. Produce and provide literature to students that develops their understanding of Equipment. Skills Needed:Must be a good motivational speaker and relaxed while speaking to a group of 10 or more students. Must convey a sense of competency to the students and must have excellent PowerPoint presentation skills.  Proficiency with maintenance techniques required to service and repair equipment.  Senior Instructor Requirements: Instruct the mechanical/electrical courses of oilfield drilling equipment to internal and external customers. Analyze the need for new equipment courses and update information of existing course. Survey students to evaluate the quality of course material and the instructor’s ability to present information in an understandable and useful manner. Create and update mechanical courses on a scheduled basis and as required by industry and equipment changes. Consult with engineering on the development of new equipment and the training needs for the equipment. Consult with E-Hawk and Tech Support; investigate equipment breakage trends and maintenance issues for potential future course material through Tracker.  Responsibilities:Assist in updating all training manuals, student notes, instructor guides, PowerPoint presentations and technical documents to a standardized company format.  Gather information/documentation and assist publication specialist in creating course materials for classes.  Prepare hardcopies and CDs of course materials. Assist in making sure the student manuals are made to company standards.  Job Duties Include: Incorporate the Instructional Systems Design (ISD) process into Training Solutions’ curriculum; Analyze the need for new equipment courses and update information of existing course. Consult with engineering on the development of new equipment and the training needs for the equipment. Consult with E-Hawk and Technical Support; investigate equipment breakage trends and maintenance issues for potential future course material through Tracker. Survey students to evaluate the quality of course material and the instructor’s ability to present information in an understandable and useful manner. Liaise with our customer’s training departments for future training needs and create a community working relationship. Create and update mechanical courses on a scheduled basis and as required by industry and equipment changes. Supervise and assist our mechanical instructors; Develop healthy working relationship Assist with instructor’s course development process, support and advise on direction, content and style. Conduct scheduled progress meetings, praise work and performance well done. Constructively discuss weak or substandard performance; assist the individual with improvement process(s).    Assist Publications with the development of presentations, animations and illustrations; Provide maintenance knowledge and technical documentation for accuracy of presentation. Assist with technical accuracy during development of student manuals. Review existing documentation for up-to-date information and desired instructor delivery methods (style). Develop a Train the Trainer action plan; Audit for improvement, the instructor’s ability to deliver information. Research and discuss alternative instruction and delivery methods to improve student information retention. Instruct mechanical/electrical courses of oilfield drilling equipment to internal and external customers. Audit Instructor’s training schedule and on rig visits to insure instructors mechanical - technical skills are current.  Assist the Training Coordinator in quoting, scheduling and answering questions from our customers. Important: a can-do attitude, the ability to get along with all personalities, a team player.   EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:  Ten years experience as a Service Representative in a comparable field. Three years experience in a Oil/Gas shop/assembly environment.
