Research Chemical Engineer or Chemist

Albemarle is seeking a Research Chemical Engineer or Research Chemist to synthesize, evaluate, model and scale-up metal oxides, zeolitic and other novel nano-materials with applications in catalysts used in current and future petroleum upgrading processes.  This position is located at our Bayport Research and Development Center in the Houston / Pasadena Area.



The ideal candidate is a PhD Chemist or Chemical Engineer with 2 to 6 years industrial experience.  We are looking for driven scientists capable of developing and driving their own R&D exploratory synthesis program while being an integral part of a fast paced global innovation team.  Team work and good communications are essential.

 

Responsibilities:

•  Synthesis of novel materials for screening in catalysis applications

•  Develops fundamental understanding of new materials synthesis variables

•  Develops structure-activity relationships

•  Works in cooperation with Global Application experts to develop new catalysts and or process technologies applicable to petroleum upgrading including Fluid Catalytic Cracking

•  Apply process engineering know-how to develop new catalysts, additives and components, starting at pilot plant scale and processing to commercial plant scale.

•  Data analysis and process modeling

 

Essentials Qualifications:

•  PhD Chemistry or Chemical Engineering with 0 - 3 years experience or MS ChE with at least 5  yrs experience

•  Extensive training in inorganic synthesis

•  Team player 

•  Excellent verbal, written and business presentation communications skills
