The Regulatory Specialist will report to the Director of Regulatory Management for Vertellus Specialties Inc. at its corporate headquarters in Indianapolis, Indiana.  The Regulatory Specialist is responsible for supporting the Company’s Health, Safety, Security, and Environmental programs, and more specifically, the Company’s programs under the various international product stewardship and hazard communication regulations. 

 

Responsibilities:

· performing data quality reviews of existing toxicology studies to determine conformance with current accepted standards (i.e., OECD protocols);

· abstracting chemistry, toxicology and environmental fate studies using IUCLID5 software in support of the company’s REACh project;

· reviewing and critiquing risk assessment and toxicology deliverables;

· facilitating and managing various aspects of chemical, food, feed, pharmaceutical, and cosmetic regulatory submissions;

· supporting product classification and labeling efforts under the Globally Harmonized System (GHS);

· preparing product stewardship communications for the Vertellus product portfolio;

· other related projects

 

Qualifications:

 Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry or Toxicology.A minimum of 3 years experience in the chemical industry (salary commensurate with experience).Background/education in mammalian and ecotoxicology concepts and environmental fate studies.Familiar with OECD toxicology protocols and good laboratory practices, data quality assessment of study reports.Familiarity with various food, feed, pharmaceutical, cosmetic, the EU’s REACh regulation, hazardous materials terminology and classification are a plus.Ability to perform chemical hazard literature searches, analyze results and summarize pertinent information into concise, easy-to-understand statements. Ability to work with computer database applications (i.e., Microsoft Access, IUCLID5) and accustomed to technical research via the Internet.Detail-oriented; able to accurately transcribe data and trace data back to original sources.Excellent documentation and organization skills. Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
