UOP has an immediate opening for a Process/Project Engineer - Gas Processing in the Gas Purification and Treating Technology Center in Des Plaines, IL.

 

General position expectations: Has knowledge and can use fundamental engineering design concepts, practices and procedures.Perform mainly routine tasks requiring application of established procedures.Work under close to moderate supervision. Results are reviewed and technical guidance is available.Decision making limited to routine issues / problems.

 

Accountable for: Process/Project Design EngineeringPrepare project Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID's) and all major equipment specifications (exchangers, pumps, vessels, etc.) for customer projectsSize process piping and run hydraulicsComplete assigned design work per the agreed budget and scheduleKeep Project Manager informed of progress on assigned tasks. Bring any problems with man-hour overruns or schedule delays to the Project Manager as early as possible.Attend and participate in project team meetingsContribute and participate in customer meetings as assigned and agreed with the Project ManagerApply current design practices and tools for completion of assigned tasksDocument all calculations and work processes in a clear, concise format

Basic Candidate Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering is required.3 plus years engineering experience at least 1 in the refining, petrochemical or gas processing industry.US work authorization.Ability to travel globally 10% on an annual basis.

 

Additional Candidate Requirements: Experience with process simulation/modeling tools i.e., Aspen & Hysis/Unisim and / or working with heat exchangers, fired heaters and compressors is a plus.Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communications skills.Excellent presentation skills.Ability to function well within a team based work environment.
