Plating / Chemical Technician CALL (651) 239-1801Description: Volt Services Group is working with a small established, family owned company that specializes in providing chemically milled metals parts for high profile companies. Our client also provides metal finishing, heat treating, and flexibility that enables them to set up special processes to meet unique metal finishing needs. We are looking for a well qualified - "formally" trained Chemical Technician / Lead Platting Technician for a position based in their Eagan, Minnesota office. **This person would be responsible for the chemical side of creating baths as well as the actual platting of parts.** The person for this position will be highly proactive at problem solving, thinking outside of the box, and possess implementation skills. Candidate must also be self-motivated with proven ability to work independently and / or with a team with minimal supervision. Key Responsibilities: • Knowledge of setting up processing solutions and creating chemical solutions. • Ability to perform process solution testing / lab analysis (titration, pH analysis, coating thickness, hull cell analysis, etc.). • In charge of daily electro plating and chemical maintenance activities, including wet analysis and chemical additions. • Responsible for sustaining the daily electro-plating baths and other wet processes and chemistries. • Ensures adherence to maintenance schedules: process solution changes, lab analysis, etc. • Assist with development of standard and/or new chemical processes (plating, metal finishing, cleaning, chemicals, etc.) that comply with all procedures that are used or needed for the company. • Assist with development and implementation of process, improvements and development for the company. • Provide all Plating Room operation task to complete processes such as: Etching, Copper, Nickel and Gold Plating, Electric Polishing, and all normal Plating Room Operations as required (cleaning, mixing chemicals, monitor solution levels). • Run processes to desired plans. • Evaluate processes and “learn as you goâ€� to improve and enhance plans. • Paper documentation of the processes is critical. • Reading blue prints is a plus. • Ability to work with minimal supervision. • Ability to trouble and /or discuss technical problems with managers. Requirements: Educational Requirements: • Degree in Chemical, Plating, Metal Finishing, or equivalent in related field. • Chemical expertise in Electro-plating is a must. • Coating and Waste Treatment experience is a plus. • Strong communication skills – written and verbal. • Experience working in an ISO 9000 is a plus. Physical Demands: • Must be able to lift 50-pounds. • Must be able to work all shifts and overtime as needed.
