Plant Supervisor - Water Treatment Chemicals - Central Wisconsin

Manufacturer of performance chemicals and industrial components is currently seeking a talented individual for the position of Plant Supervisor at their plant located in the Central Wisconsin area.  This position will be working specifically for the Chemical Division, more specifically the Water Treatment Chemicals Business Unit.  In this role you will be responsible for supervising all aspects of manufacturing water treatment chemicals at the plant level along with executing management plans and achieving goals consistent with manufacturing products at the lowest possible cost consistent with safety and quality requirements.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

 

Directly responsible for all operational aspects of the performance chemical and industrial components production unit. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

 Supervises hourly staff (5-6 people) responsible for the manufacture of water treatment products. Evaluates employee performance and provides training when appropriate.Prepare and monitor operative conditions and manufacturing schedules.Plans and schedule maintenance of plant equipment, troubleshoots problems, and initiates repairs when necessary.Insures that all plant activities and manufacturing is conducted in accordance with all health, safety and environmental rules and that all quality specifications are adhered to.Prepares and monitors plant budgets and forecasts and prepares reports as directed by management.  Manage and controls plant costs, efficiency and productivity to maximize profitability.Recommend and prepare requests for capital expenditures and implements approved projectsPlan local purchases of materials and obtains vendor quotes to obtain most cost effective alternatives.Administers Human Resources policies in compliance with all Federal, State and Local laws and regulationsOperate and supervise the operation of plant equipment including but not limited to loaders, conveyers, pumps, mixers, etc., as required to ensure that productivity goals of plant are achieved. Coordinate the shipping of finished product to customersPlan the purchase of raw manufacturing materials to ensure sufficient inventories are on hand in support of the production schedule.Operate SAP computer system to monitor customer requirementsInsure all plant activities are conducted within Company guidelinesMaintains positive customer and community relations.Performs other duties as assigned or needed.

 

Position Requirements:

 

High school diploma and minumun (5) five years of plant experience or four-year degree (BS degree in Engineering) preferred.  Minimum (2) two years prior supervisory experience.

 

Individual must be computer literate (Word, Excel, etc.) and posses basic math skills along with strong mechanical reasoning skills.  SAP knowledge helpful.  In addition to excellent and effective oral and written communication skills, the individual must demonstrate strong leadership ability.  Must possess a working knowledge of chemical batch processing, bulk powder handling, liquid storage and transfer technologies, and ISO9000 quality systems.  Must also be able to demonstrate the ability to apply good judgment in response to potential “shut down” conditions and in executing effective quick fixes and formulating long-term effective corrective actions. 

 

This operations provides critical water treatment products to municipalities and industrial consumers.  There are hazardous chemicals onsite.  The hourly personnel are represented by a collective bargaining agreement.  The Plant Supervisor has a 24 hour/365 day a year “on-call” responsibility to ensure operational readiness of the plant.

 

No relocation.  However, the company will provide a sign-on bonus to help with relocation expenses.

 

Salary $75-000-$85,000; Annual Bonus
