Responsibilities:
 
The Planning and Coordination Superintendent's primary role is to identify and implement the optimal short-term and long-term strategy for Alliance Refinery and communicate this within and outside of the refinery through the efficient direction of the Department staff.  Provide the leadership and mentoring for direct reports and instill ownership and accountability as well.
 
Manage staffing of the Planning and Coordination organization, that employees are properly trained, that they have the needed tools to perform their jobs, and that their priorities and goals are optimally aligned with those of the refinery.Direct the daily management of the refinery's logistical activities and identify and communicate optimal operating conditions.  Work closely with Operations and provide support and guidelines for optimizing the refinery operation.Assume timely and clear communications and implement optimization opportunities between Refinery and Commercial.Assure monthly generation and submission of the short-term operating plan (STOP), relative crude values (RCV's) and completion of the comparison of actual operation to the STOP and long-range plan (LRP).  Communicate with Refinery.Assure annual completion of required portions of the LRP including the annual barrel plan and associated key metrics.Assure that all required outside submission (Solomon, EPA, EIA, Oil & Gas Journal, etc.) have been made on schedule.Have necessary analysis performed (project economics, loss profit opportunity calculations, short form calculations, inventory forecasts, etc.).  Use these analysis results to provide optimization opportunities for the Refinery operations.Direct loss control efforts (minimize loss on material movements, witness meter proving, auditing of independent inspection companies, mass balance, etc.).  Develop accurate material balances and work closely with the blending.Coordinate the development, communication, and implementation of the optimal business strategy for the Refinery.Develop and manage annual department budget.  Maintain costs at or below budget and optimize the annual budget. Basic/Required Qualifications:
Legally authorized to work in the United States.Bachelor's degree.

Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in engineering.Position has basic physical, PSM, and HSE requirementsExtensive interaction with all Refinery personnel including the Leadership Team and Commercial.Some interaction with outside pipeline companies, independent inspection companies, and other COP refineries.Some travel required to Houston, other COP refineries, and local inspection and pipeline companies.Be available on weekends as needed to work with Operations to maintain inventories and assist planning.
