MANAGER, CUSTOMER SERVICE & BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT

Southern Star Central Gas Pipeline (SSCGP) is an interstate natural gas transportation company, headquartered in Owensboro, KY.  SSCGP operates a 6,000-mile pipeline system transporting natural gas from Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, Wyoming and Colorado to markets in the Mid-continent.

Job#08-0067– MANAGER, CUSTOMER SERVICE & BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT–OWENSBORO, KY

 

Position Information:

The Manager of Customer Service and Business Development (CS/BD) is directly responsible for the management of all marketing and business development activities.  Provides leadership and direction to professionals, execution of strategies to:  achieve annual revenue targets; improve customer relations; re-contract transportation and storage capacity; and, grow the business in a prudent manner in accordance with Southern Star’s goals, objectives and Guiding Principles.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

Primary responsibilities include (but not limited to): Be personally accountable for performance of employees in reporting area and achievement of area’s goals and strategies. Demonstrate integrity, character, ethical behavior, and personal professionalism in exercise of all duties. Personally support and exhibit support of Guiding Principles. Determine ways to improve and maximize potential of employees and reporting area’s policies and procedures. Effectively communicate necessary and helpful information to employees. Creatively and constructively manage conflict and appropriately address and resolve employee disputes. Engage in regular, consistent performance management, including coaching, teaching, appraisal, and mentoring activities. Align individual employee goals with departmental and Company strategies and goals. Ensure development of all employees within reporting area. Collaborate with other departments and external entities.  Serve as champion for Southern Star’s services.

 

Oversee commercial marketing and business development activities.  Plan and coordinate efforts to achieve revenue goals. Secure incremental markets that align strategically and economically with company objectives.  Oversee and develop pricing and proposal strategies that fit Company objectives and make the market.  Oversee negotiation and closure of renewal of existing contracts and new transportation contracts. Assist with creation of area budget, maintain area budget.  Create, oversee, implement programs to enhance and improve customer service efforts. Provide required data and reports.  Assist with creation, oversight, and maintenance of departmental goals and budgets. Coordinate and provide presentations at customer meetings. Participate in industry events. Perform other duties as assigned.

 

 

Qualifications:

Minimum

 

· Bachelor’s Degree

· Minimum 5 years industry experience

· Experience demonstrating basic understanding of the economic, marketing, and commercial aspects of natural gas transmission

· Experience demonstrating ability to work with individuals at all levels across the organization and other organizations

· Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects in a deadline-driven environment

· Experience working in a team environment

· Experience working in high-stress environment

· Valid driver’s license

· Ability to work long, irregular, unscheduled hours

· Overnight travel 30%

 

Preferred

 

· Broad industry contact base

· Experience negotiating contracts

· Project management experience

· Intermediate skill level with Microsoft Office

· Knowledge of Company tariff
