I&E Engineer - OxyChem

Occidental Chemical Corporation has an immediate opening at an OSHA Star facility in Niagara Falls, NY. The successful candidate will have 8-10 years experience in maintaining and upgrading control loops, analyzers and PLC’s. Provides a high level of engineering services on instrument/electrical control schemes and assists with in-house I/E technician training. Provides expertise in equipment upgrading, identification of new technology applications and maintenance. Experience in a chemical manufacturing environment preferred. Required to be on-call. BS in chemical, electrical or equivalent engineering discipline is required. Occidental offers a competitive compensation and benefit package.

Provides a high level of engineering services including instrument/electrical control schemes with associated schematics, loop drawings, etc. Acts independently and exercises critical judgement in simple or highly complex applications of engineering principles. Provides accurate and thorough engineering reviews of existing processes and process change requests, and participates in process hazard review analyses to assure safety, reliability, and economic performance of Niagara Plant production units.
• Develops plans and procedures for preventive and predictive maintenance on operating equipment within an assigned area of specialization to improve reliability and reduce costs. Installs or assists in the application of these procedures. Monitors equipment performance and makes necessary changes to plans and procedures to improve reliability of equipment.
• Provides cost estimating and engineering proposals on routine replacement of equipment, for correction of maintenance problems and improvements to processing equipment. Coordinates or supervises the installation of such improvements. Manages overall project.
• Provides training to Production and Maintenance personnel in the proper use and care of equipment. Develops necessary training as required. Coordinates craft skills training.
• Keeps current on technology and equipment and evaluates same for use in plant facilities. Implements new technology and standards as associated with process equipment, process safety, and maintenance tools.
• Provides technical expertise in the area of equipment upgrading and maintenance emphasizing the cost effective selection, application and installation. Identifies new technology applications to improve reliability, costs,and safety.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must be able to travel about the plant including climbing stairs and ladders. Must be able to wear personal protective equipment including full-face respirator required in various areas of the plant.

Required to be on-call for plant issues.
Number of years experience required: 8-10 years

Experience in a chemical manufacturing environment preferred. Experience with high voltage systems such as 115KV, 13.8KV, and 4160V preferred.
