 POSITION DESCRIPTION

 

 

TITLE: Field Technical Service Engineer

 

LOCATION:  North Carolina or Southeast US, or Texas or Ohio (Open)

DEPARTMENT: Technology

REPORTS TO: Vice President

 

POSITION SUMMARY;

 This position will provide field

support to clients and Sales Team by acting as an expert in Client product and the

general industry. This position plays a key role in product development & works closely with the Product Development team. This position is responsible for technical interface with our major accounts. It is essential to be able to recognize their stated or un-stated needs and either recommend or design products to meet those needs.

 

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Provides technical support to customers and sales team by responding to inquiries on product

information and capabilities.

• Responsible for solving technical problems by devising solutions to implement at customer

locations  based on previous customer feedback or requests.

• Responsible for developing products to meet emerging demands in the market place.

• Responds to customer complaints, isolates problems and reports results to Product Development

team.

• Maintains Client’s industry presence by representing Client at industry conferences &

  trade shows. Conducts/develops customer presentations, web seminars, publications, articles etc.

• Participates in global product development in the areas of color concentrates and  additive

masterbatch.

• Produces call reports, monthly summaries of active projects, updates as required and distributes.

• Chair or present at national forums – TAPPI, SPE, etc.

 

SCOPE & DECISION-MAKING AUTHORITY:

Diversified work for which general plans and methods exist. Decisions require reference to various procedures, and analysis of facts to determine appropriate action, guidelines and precedents are limited. Freedom to act permits latitude for decision-making and modification. Gains advice from supervisor/manager, technical experts or colleagues before making decision affecting department/business unit objectives. Expected to work as a team player to overcome problems associated with areas of responsibility.

For problems of a wider scope advice is sought from supervisor.

RELATIONSHIPS:

Works with R&D, technical services/product development; quality assurance; production; purchasing; sales and management teams. Communicates with all at a level that may require considerable effort in explanation or persuasion.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES REQUIRED:

BS  degree in an appropriate technical discipline, combined with a minimum of 5 years of related experience at a polymer or additive processing company. Extensive knowledge of, color / plastics / compounding / processing technology./injection molding/Blow molding /rotational molding and extrusion.  

Previous field support to customers and sales staff.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Excellent problem solving and organizational skills.

Excellent facility with computer information systems and windows based PC software applications.

 

Salary  55,000.00  to  75,000.00 Car, phone, computer, plus bonus.
