Environmental Chemist

DESCRIPTION:

A leading environmental waste company is looking for a motivated chemist/environmentalist.  Candidates are required to have a Bachelor's Degree preferably in chemistry, but related science fields are acceptable.  Previous laboratory experience is required.  Experience in the Environmental field, especially industrial waste handling and treatment is highly desirable.  This position reports directly the the Laboratory Manager.  Growth opportunities are available for those who have drive and aptitude.

 

REQUIREMENTS:

The position requires running various laboratory equipment.  Experience with ICP,GC/MS, and GC/ECD is important as utilizing these instruments is a major part of the job.  Proficient knowledge of EPA and ASTM test methods is ideal.  The position is responsible for preparatory work on samples, laboratory housekeeping, as well as operating and maintaining the instruments.  Excellent computer skills are necessary.  Proficiency with Microsoft Office is essential.  Strong communication skills are essential as interaction between the laboratory and other departments is crucial.  The position requires good, safe laboratory practices.  Candidates must be well organized and have a strong attention to detail.  Experience in industrial waste treatment and proficient knowledge in EPA regulations desired.
