The TERATHANE Intermediates facilities consist of Butanediol, Tetrahydrofuran and TERATHANE products.The site is located adjacent to the city of Houston Texas. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:• Provide technical support to operations areas, assisting with troubleshooting of complex problems. This can include filling the role of Technical Support to Operations engineer.• Develop and implement process improvement ideas that result in improvements in yield performance, energy efficiency, and operating cost reductions. • Development of project justifications, including economic analysis, to ensure proper marginal value. •Prepare and execute projects that improve the safety, operability and environmental performance of the plant• Management and implementation of small projects to support safety, environmental and economic initiatives.•Provide root cause failure analysis of operating problems•Support the design and implementation of large capital projects including basic data development.• Participation on technical and operations teams to improve site performance.• Participate and lead Management of Change (MOC) and Process Hazard Analysis (PHA), including revalidation PHA’s.•Work in a team environment with operators, mechanics, and exempt professionals.•Strong knowledge of process technology and equipment.EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION Requirements: • BS in Chemical Engineering• 5+ years work experience in the petroleum and/or chemical processing industry in a plant environment - Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Technology (Word, Excel)• Demonstrated leadership skills• Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills• Demonstrated analytical skills• Demonstrated planning & organizational skills• Demonstrated personal motivation & initiative with strong desire to learn• Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment• Demonstrated working knowledge of Microsoft based PC software• Demonstrated skill in process or production engineering in a plant environment. • Applied problem solving skills in chemical manufacturing environment• Ability to work effectively with all personnel regardless of function/level. PREFERRED:• Experience with data historian software, such as IP21 or ASPEN• Knowledge of Process Safety Management systems including MOC, Relief Valve sizing and PHA’s• Ability to develop creative solutions to operations problems• Strong organization and planning skills • Working knowledge of data analysis software • Strong economic thinking skills • Applied problem solving skills in petrochemical and/or chemical manufacturing field PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:•Must be able to enter and move about in confined spaces and wear personnel protective equipment•Must be able to climb stairs in operating unit•Ability to work in extreme temperatures and weather conditions for various periods of time•Must be willing to work periodic workdays in excess of 8 hours•Must be willing to relocate to LaPorte, TexasCOMPENSATION / BENEFITS:Competitive wages and benefits packages commensurate with experience.
