We are the world's largest executive recruiting firm. We have been retained to recruit the Drilling Manager for a subsidiary of a large independent E&P company -  listed on the NYSE. 



If you have current or recent shale drilling experience, bring your mud boots and hard hat to a small farm community near Pittsburgh. The company has thousands of acres in the "sweet spot" of the Marcellus formation.  They have deep pockets for a long term development program by the best shale development/production professionals in the industry.

Responsibilities



Manages and coordinates drilling and completion of onshore unconventional oil and gas wells and/or remedial drilling work involving contract drilling and completion crewsPrepares AFE proposals for drilling and completing operations. Negotiates vendor pricing for capital drilling program – requires obtaining contractor bids.Requires the coordination of many contractors – this must be optimized to maximize capital efficiency and to minimize time between well spud and date of first production. Manages drilling rig schedules.Coordinates with office staff to obtain required permits.Provides input in setting drilling objectives and policies, identifying critical issues and introducing new concepts in drilling operations. Identifies, recommends and implements better work alternatives and business processes. Exercises sound judgment and decision-making in planning, organizing and conducting work assignments. Provides assistance, advice and solutions to co-workers and subordinates on drilling and completion related issues. Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, and establishing personal networks.Formulates training and mentoring of other drilling professionals.Ensures compliance with regulatory and safety standards.

Experience Required



Experience working with unconventional assets, i.e., tight gas sands, shales and CBM.Demonstrated skills in the use of drilling and completion engineering techniques and practices of the field.Must have experience drilling horizontal wellbores.Full knowledge of drilling and completion engineering theories and principles. Thorough understanding of commercial and business aspects of oil and gas industry.Demonstrated leadership and management ability.Able to prioritize multiple projects.High degree of initiative and independent judgment.Strong analytical and problem solving abilities.Ability to work with field employees and vendors as well as other disciplines.Strong attention to detail; ability to perform duties with a high level of accuracy.Ability to organize work, engage in a variety of tasks simultaneously and consistently meet deadlines.Strong personal computer skills.Strong oral and written communication skills. Bachelors Degree in Engineering.
