Huntsman has an immediate opening for a Corporate Environmental Engineer, in our EHS team located at our Huntsman Advanced Technology Center in The Woodlands, Texas.

 

This position is responsible for the development and implementation of environmental systems and programs designed to achieve consistency across manufacturing sites located in the United States, Canada, Mexico, and Central/South America.  This position is also responsible for providing consultancy support to Americas manufacturing sites, with the ultimate goal of achieving cost reductions and improved performance through the use of shared services.  Specific duties include:

 

Key Accountabilities:Develop and implement consistent environmental processes, programs and guidelines within the Americas regionMonitor legislative and regulatory activity and communicate potential impact to company operationsUpon request, provide in-house consultant services to plants.  Efforts would include the development of permits, regulatory reports, emission inventories, etcResearch regulatory issues and provide interpretations to plants and businessesParticipate in regulatory advocacy on issues of importance to HuntsmanParticipate in corporate EHS compliance and management system auditsMaintain a database of agency interpretations, legal opinions, FAQs, and corporate guidanceTravel up to 33% of time

The Environmental Engineer will report to the Environmental Team Lead in the Americas EHS Center of Excellence.

 

Education/Experience:Minimum of a Bachelors Degree in Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, or equivalentMinimum of 5 years experience in dealing with environmental permitting and regulatory compliance at the plant level, with a focus on air regulations

 Special Qualifications (Training, Technical Skills, etc.)Good working knowledge of environmental regulations, permitting, emission calculation methodologies, agency practices, and chemical and petrochemical manufacturing operationsExcellent written and oral communication skillsAbility to manage multiple projects at oncePrevious environmental consulting experience a plusKnowledge of environmental programs in Texas, Alabama, California, Illinois, Louisiana, Michigan and/or North Carolina a plus
