CHEMICAL PROCESS/PROJECT ENGINEER
Our client, a world-wide producer of brand fibers of outstanding quality for nearly all fields of applications of textile products, is searching for a Chemical Process/Project Engineer. Recent expansions and acquisitions has enabled this highly visible company to strengthen its position as a leading manufacturer of synthetic elastic fibers and expand its geographical presence.With existing plants in Japan, Taiwan and China this is a significant step towards increasing the company's global reach in the Spandex industry.The successful candidate will direct and coordinate the day-to-day engineering effort as it applies to facility mechanical equipment and systems of the process. Coordination and facilitation will include problem solving process issues and proposing engineering solutions. MAIN PURPOSE/MAINTENANCE SIDE Assisting Production/Operations in problem solving process issues and possible maintenance repair. Proposing and/or executing engineering solutions to process issues and maintenance repeat repair conditions. Assisting the Maintenance Dept. in their pro active maintenance program and best practices development. Produce decisions or recommendations for part interchangeability, installation modifications and deviations from standards or manufacturer's recommendations as they relate to installed and operating equipment.MAIN PURPOSE/PROJECT SIDE Participate in front-end preliminary engineering to identify process bottlenecks and/or offer possible engineering solutions to process problems as they relate to control, operations, runability and end product quality. Participate in the development of scopes of work, detail engineering design, process safety reviews and assist in detail estimates/justifications. Conclude decisions or recommendations for final detail designs and newly purchased equipment installation. Assist in project construction execution, commissioning, thorough process start-up and tuning. Participate in document control and engineering documentation revision upkeep.ADDITIONAL GENERAL DUTIES The challenges of this position are in the daily multi-tasking required to provide engineering support to a continuous, 24/7 production facility. This challenge is further heightened due to the need to operate on a maintenance engineering level, as well as a project engineering level. The candidate must have managerial abilities - both to organize and direct the functions under their control with the ability to mange numerous projects simultaneously. These include but are not limited to; cost control, multiple resource management, decision-making, setting and raising clear dept. goals and problem solving. Responsible for; ensuring all Capital work is compatible with existing equipment and processes, is maintainable and complies with applicable plant and company standards. Complies with other applicable standards at the Local, State and Federal levels regarding OSHA, ASME, ETC.POSITION REQUIREMENTS BS degree in Chemical Engineering. Minimum of 3-5 years experience in a chemical Mfg. facility with responsibility for Plant Engineering functions. Project Engineering experience will be an added plus and is preferable. This position reports directly to the VP/Manufacturing and COO. The candidate will be responsible for the daily engineering support requirements of the facility with close cooperation of production, team members and other internal/external disciplines.** CANDIDATE MUST HAVE A VALID U.S. WORK AUTHORIZATION.
