This company is a leading worldwide manufacturer of float and fabricated glass products for the commercial and residential construction industries.They are also one of the top 100 global automotive suppliers, as well as one of the largest manufacturers of fiberglass in the world and occupies a significant and growing position in the building materials distribution business. The company and its subsidiaries employ over 19,000 people and operate facilities throughout North America, Europe, South America, Asia, Africa and the Middle East.
What will this Chemical Process Engineer will be responsible for?
Developing site-specific protocol for introducing, implementing and communicating wet-chemical processes to manufacturing within the product launch window established timelines.Identifying key process parameters conduct statistically designed experiments and interpret the results via statistical analysis on pilot scale and production equipment. Taking initiative to ensure that all the technical knowledge of the site-specific product launch is appropriately documented, communicated, and understood through risk-assessment project management. Troubleshooting new process implementations and current manufacturing issues using root-cause analysis.Develop and scale-up coating solution delivery systems, fluids coating processes and film drying processes for manufacturing operations. Develop solution delivery system, coating and drying process competencies with on site process engineers at manufacturing sites.Excel at presenting and communicating technical ideas, concepts, and recommendations to a mixed audience.Interface with production to successfully transfer products and improve performance of the existing product lines, suggest and implement solutions Develop process specifications for new products in coordination with marketing, sales, and research groups. Responsible for scale-up, launch, monitoring and improvement of product performance throughout the product life-cycle.Evaluate, test, specify and procure process application manufacturing and R&D equipmentKnowledgeable in applied quality control methods including SPC, control charting, gage R&R and production sampling plan methodologies.
This Chemical Process Engineer must be an organized professional with excellent analytical, organizational, and conflict management skills.
Below are key requirements that we feel are essential for success within this position:
Bachelors / Masters Degree in Chemical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering with a Chemical and/or Mathematics minor (statistics heavy) will also be considered. 7 + years experience as a Process Engineer with strong chemistry and process engineering skills with an aptitude for mechanical machinery highly desired.Wet chemistry testing and process experimental development competency.Patent search abilities with the innovative creativity to apply to projects. Possess strong command of scientific reporting, communication, and knowledge transfer to both scientific and production disciplines.Experience with and high competency and utilization of practical statistical DOE.Strong troubleshooting and root-cause analysis skills.Project management and prioritization skills A team player with strong leadership skillsExcellent verbal and written skills. Ability to travel up to 50% of the timeProficient in MS Office Suite programs
