Automation Engineer

Position Overview:
The Automation Engineer will be an experienced Engineer (5+ years directly relevant experience) reporting to the Continuous Improvement Group (CIG) manager. They will have site responsibilties of designing chemical process control stategies, providing linkage between process operations requirements and automated systems. They will also provide configuration, tuning and batch
Programming assistance for the Bailey and Delta V systems at the Sistersville Plant.

Specific Responsibilities Include:
· Provide technical support to instrument technicians.
· Interfacing with production personnel to resolve control problems.
· Interfacing with Engineering personnel to review and assist in project design.
· DCS design and configuration.
· Design of graphic screens for the DCS and Real time data archive.
· Automation projects designed to improve the uptime, efficiency and reliability of production units.
· Maintaining adequate documentation and backups of the DCS system.
· Participate in improvement teams. (Six Sigma Projects and Lean Events)
· Writing and maintaining of batch automation programs.· Updating the alarm management database.
· Writing testing procedures for critical control loops.

Required Education and Professional Qualifications:
· BS Chemical Engineering or equivalent engineering degree and experience. Minimum 5 years of relevant experience.

Required Work Experience:
· Specialty Chemical processes
· Design, configuration and startup of DCS (preferred Bailey INFI 90 and Delta V)
· Control loop tuning and optimization of control loop design
· Batch Automation· Real time data archiving system (OSI Software PI system)
· Control system design standards such as those from ISA
· Design and standards associated with emergency shutdown systems.

Required Technical/Business Skills and Knowledge:
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
· Excellent organizational skills.

Desired Skills/Knowledge/Attributes:
· Six Sigma Greenbelt
· Experience with SPC (statistical process control) and statistical analysis of data is a plus.
· MS Windows 2000, MS Excel, MS Word, MS VBA, MS Access
· Programming experience with MS Visual Basic and MS VBA 6.0.
· Experience with MS SQL Server
