Applications Engineer - Process Control

The Applications Engineer designs, implements, and maintains control applications for refinery process units ranging from basic regulatory controls to advanced, multi-variable controls systems.  The Applications Engineer is responsible for maintaining the DCS database including tag building, alarms, and trends.  The Applications Engineer creates and maintains operator-interface graphics, provides input relevant to control system and control application controllability, maintainability, cost effectiveness and process optimization.  The Applications Engineer applies process engineering background and experience to recognize deficiencies and potential problems in unit operation and recommends options for improvement.  The Application Engineer coordinates technical, maintenance, and operations personnel to troubleshoot operating problems and implement new equipment and controls.  The Application Engineer also works with technical and operations personnel to scope and define new projects and new operating strategies.  The Applications Engineer must follow all safety rules and guidelines as established by the refinery.

Minimum Position QualificationsBS degree in Engineering required (Chemical Engineering Degree preferred)Minimum 2 years of process engineering experience in a petroleum refinery or chemical plant required.  Minimum 1 year of process control experience required (Honeywell TDC3000/TPN/TPS or Experion/PKS preferred)Experience in advanced control applications, process simulation, or Visual Basic preferred.  Must demonstrate application of sound professional judgment.
