Account Manager, Branded Distributor Operations
GULF OIL LIMITED PARTNERSHIP, based in Newton, Massachusetts, is one of the Northeast's largest wholesale distributors of refined petroleum products. GULF distributes motor fuels through a network of over 2,500 GULF branded gas stations, 12 proprietary oil terminals, and a network of over 50 other supply terminals. GULF OIL LP supplies heating oil, diesel fuel, jet fuel and kerosene to these branded retail outlets through its GULF brand over a 12 state northeast region, encompassing 65 million people. In New York and New England, GULF OIL LP is also the exclusive distributor of Exxon branded products. Through its unbranded subsidiary, Great Island Energy, GULF OIL LP also supplies petroleum products as well as risk management and financial services to industrial, commercial, and independent retail firms. GULF OIL LP has a substantial ownership interest in World Energy Alternatives, the nation's largest distributor of bio-diesel, an increasingly important part of our nation's energy supply.

Account Manager, Branded Distributor Operations
Summary: Initiates contact and maintains relationships with existing and potential customers, identifies needs, formulates solutions, manages territory as a business unit, and grows the volume and site count of available brands within the framework of the sales plan.
Position responsibilities:Achieves all sales goals and objectives as defined by Gulf Oil LP.Develops and maintains relationships with existing branded accounts to encourage the growth of the brands throughout the designated territory. Conducts sales calls with prospective companies demonstrating the strength, performance and caliber of the brands; and, develops relationships.Informs and ensures participation of customer base in all sales promotions and programs.Formulates appropriate branding packages for customers and works with customers at the retail site level to ensure proper implementation and usage of all marketing, advertising, image and credit card programs.Fiscally manages rebate, co-op and upgrade programs within territory.Manages contract negotiation and assists in determining offers applicable to the jobber and in the best interests of Gulf Oil LP.Reviews and instructs the customer base on their contractual obligations, keeping them within the requirements of the defined brand image, as well as in compliance with contract terms.Keeps abreast of all industry trends and market intelligence; conducts the SWOT analysis for territory including, but not limited to retail price data, competitor contracts, competitive offers, and identification of major competitors; ensures director and customer base are aware of any pertinent information. Works with the Credit department to keep customers within stated credit terms.Maintains effective daily communication with all internal departments as needed.Handles all customer complaints and champions issues to resolution; escalates issues to the director level as appropriate.Assists customers with their marketing strategy to keep them competitive in the marketplace, as well as maximize their full profit potential. Creates and submits sales reports in a timely fashion as directed.Practices efficient time and territory management; performs travel as required.Provide on call support to customer base during off hours as needed.Performs other duties as required.
Education / Experience:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience level.
Minimum of 5+ years demonstrated outside sales representative experience, preferably with industry experience.
The following is required: excellent written and verbal communication skills; professionalism; solid time management, territory and organizational skills; excellent attention to detail; ability to work well in a team environment; strong analysis and judgment skills; the ability to interact with business owners / decision makers; flexibility; the ability to meet the defined travel requirements (i.e. daily travel exceeding 50% and overnight travel exceeding 25%) and, the ability to properly recognize / define opportunities and follow through to completion of the sale.
Technical Skills / Computer Skills:
Proficiency with the MS Office Suite.
