Location:US-CA-Palo Alto Job Number:PAL00003 Employee Status : Regular Job Type :Experienced Schedule : Full-time Description Ernst & Young's Financial Services Office (FSO) is a unique, industry-focused business unit that provides a broad range of integrated services that leverage deep industry experience with strong functional capability and product knowledge. The FSO's Advisory practice provides integrated advisory services to financial institutions and other capital markets participants, including commercial banks, investment banks, broker-dealers, asset managers (traditional and alternative), insurance and energy trading companies, and other organizations. The service offerings provided by the Advisory practice include: market, credit and operational risk management, regulatory advisory, quantitative advisory, structured finance transaction, actuarial advisory, technology enablement, risk and security, program advisory, and process & controls. The Advisory team includes individuals who have deep industry, product and client knowledge. The FSO's Technology Enablement group works directly with clients to transform their business problems into technology solutions. The goal is to support our clients' efforts to make their business units more effective and efficient and, where required, provide services in connection with the remediation and mitigation of process risk. Our experience is also important to the analysis of specific business requirements for alignment with technology architecture, technology infrastructure design, and vendor selection decisions that support the finance organizations of our clients. This position falls within our Tech Enablement Insurance solutions team, which helps our clients undergo transformations in their business models to enhance the operating effectiveness achieve business goals. These transformations can be from a group-up approach to tactical or strategic areas of focus. Responsibilities The candidate will manage project teams through all phases of the technology enablement life cycle, and lend specific subject matter knowledge to the design and integration phase of each project. This may entail both technical and functional skills. Leadership is required in team organization and technical expertise for the solutions' products, so that we can define the appropriate details for the architecture, data model, and system design and interfacing requirements. In addition, the candidate will advise clients on a variety of business process services, supported by technology, that help identify, assess, manage and measure the organization's capabilities. This will be done using business process, organizational and technology capabilities and knowledge across several of the following focus areas: P&C and Life/Annuity Insurance Claims (Business & Data Model, Transaction & Process sequences) Insurance Business Model and Functional Architecture Reinsurance Accounting and Reporting Operations/Technology Insurance Statutory Reporting Systems Features/Functionality Project Management and Technology Lifecycle A key aspect of the role will be teaming with client technology professionals, and/or third-party strategic alliances to provide implementation of technology solutions. Lastly, the candidate will participate in engagement management, engagement execution and reporting, and client relationship building and management. To qualify, candidates must have: A Bachelor's degree in Insurance, Risk Management, Computer Science, Engineering, Accounting, Finance or a related field (MBA or MS degree preferred) Emphasis on the use of technology in the Insurance and Financial Services market and direct functional experience in Claims or Billing operations A minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience at an Insurance carrier or financial services company or comparable experience. We will consider candidates with four (4) years of relevant experience if they possess an advanced degree. Demonstrated ability to work with Functional product configuration tools and business rules. Should know Java Scripting. Demonstrated ability to manage and supervise a team of technology advisors through all phases of the technology life cycle, including requirements definition, architecture design, conversion and testing Strong written and verbal communication, presentation, client service and technical writing skills, coupled with a strong interest in further developing and integrating operations with technology skills Ability and comfort level researching client inquiries and emerging issues, including regulations, industry practices, and new technologies Experience in any of the following areas: Definition of Insurance related business and technical requirements in both the P&C and Life/Annuity segments Design of Insurance related business and technology architecture System selection and implementation support Data mapping and conversion Proof of concept Quality assurance and testing Business and IT process reengineering Program/project management and implementation planning (PMO) Previous Project experiences in: Insurance transformation & accelerated close Enterprise application integration Formal Rational Unified Process and Agile delivery approaches Requirements definition & Traceability Translation of functional requirements to technical configuration tasks Technical product configuration Data Mapping and Transformation Previous Application/Package experience in any of the following: Insurance Claims Systems ERP systems (Peoplesoft, Siebel, Oracle, FileNet) Willingness and ability to travel up to 80%The successful candidate should possess strong knowledge of and experience in supervising and executing all phases of the technology life cycle, based on proven project management and testing methodologies. It is essential that the successful candidate possess knowledge of solution architecture design and have a good understanding of technology tools and components in financial systems architecture.
