Within TARAS, we have tax accounting and tax process improvement professionals who work to help improve a company's investment in technical capabilities, process redesign and tax technology. We currently have a career opportunity for a Manager in our TARAS practice. TARAS provides clients with improved quality of tax reporting and risk management; increased integration of tax within the business; increased efficiency and productivity; enhanced quality, timeliness and accuracy of tax data; and enhanced perception of the tax function as a contributor. Responsibilities Tax Functional Knowledge: Process and Organization. Possess a base foundation in tax technical concepts. Understand tax processes, the mindset of tax professionals, and organizational issues and considerations. Data and Technology: Translate tax requirements to IT/accounting for data capture, data collection, process automation and integration. Possess broad versus deep technology expertise. Project Management: Break plans down into key activities; include contingency plans, pilots, and prototypes; track status against timelines and milestones; maintain an appropriate sense of urgency; and resolve issues on a timely basis. Manage scope; leverage resources effectively; and track budget variances and billing matters. Quality and Risk: Ensure accuracy and completeness of own work and that of the team. Cross-check with others. Identify and communicate risks/issues on a timely basis to appropriate people. Client Relationships: Exhibit a professional demeanor, sound judgment, poise and confidence when dealing with all levels of client personnel. Be passionate about client service; respond promptly to client questions; and seek to understand the client's business. Instill a service-oriented attitude in members of the engagement team. Additional Key Responsibilities: Project execution, strategic thinking, teaming, communication, group decision making, change management, drive, motivation, work ethic, and practice development. To qualify, candidates must have: a bachelor's degree, with an emphasis in accounting a minimum of 5 years of relevant tax experience or equivalent experience in business or industry CPA certification broad exposure to the federal income tax provision process, preferably on SEC registrants (FAS109, SOX/404, FAS123(R), Tax Process Improvement) excellent managerial, leadership, organizational, and verbal/written communication skills demonstrated business development skills the ability to travel at least 75% of the time
