Special Projects (Marketing) Intern

SUMMARY:

The individual will be responsible for assisting with multiple marketing projects and event coordination.  The individual will also be responsible for updating copy on the Chamber website pertaining to Small Business and Fusion programs, and writing HTML-based broadcast e-mails including e-mail blasts and e-newsletters.  The candidate will be responsible for compiling research on future trends and best practices.  The candidate will also assist with committee management and data entry.  This position requires a willingness to attend Chamber and non-Chamber events throughout the Detroit region.  The candidate should be comfortable in a networking environment and at ease speaking with groups of people in a social situation.

QUALIFICATIONS:Working toward a degree/recently graduated from a 4-year college or university in communications, public relations, marketing or related field.  Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and experience working with e-mail and database programs.Skilled knowledge in marketing, event planning, logistics and program research.  Must have the ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.Must have good communication skills, creativity and the ability to work cross-functionally and provide superior customer service to both internal and external clients.

RESPONSIBILITIES:Managing multiple marketing projects and event coordination for Fusion and Small Business programs.  Writing and executing various members communications, specifically assisting with e-mail communications (HTML newsletters, e-blasts, etc.), program material and event notices.Administrative duties - copying, organizing materials for events, faxing, and data entry.Conduct research to help support Fusion and Small Business projects.Attend events, assist with on-site registration and provide post-event fulfillment.  Follow up with attendees and sponsors to ensure obligations are fulfilled after Chamber events.  Craft and distribute post-event surveys to gauge customers satisfaction.Other duties as assigned.

SALARY:

$8.00 per hour/up to 25 hours per week.
