 SVP, Brand and Communications Market Research Reports to:   EVP of Market Research Excellence Direct Reports: Vice President to Manager level employees Candidates for this Senior Level role will must have experience within the pharmaceutical market research arena. Position Summary:  Once our clients' pharmaceutical or device/diagnostic products have been launched, the brand's performance needs to be optimized. TNS Healthcare's Brand and Communications Area of Expertise leads the way in designing and executing quantitative research to identify a motivating point of difference for the brand; identify committed and non-committed users of the brand and its competitors; optimize messaging to physicians, consumers, and payers; and track key metrics over time.  This Senior Level role is recognized as an established thought leader within the industry and is accountable for building the Area of Expertise business segment. He/she will partner with internal AoE leaders and account executives to understand key client business issues and recommend value-added, integrated Area of Expertise solutions. He/she will also collaborate with other Areas of Expertise in order to develop integrated solutions for clients and present a “TNS Point of View”. Responsibilities will include establishing the quality standards for Area of Expertise deliverables;Manage, train and coach direct reports on best practices and Industry knowledge.  Develop and guide direct reports to become subject matter experts and strong points of contact for clients and the Industry at large. Management scope:  The potential to manage a number of direct reports within the department.  Expected to manage employment costs against fixed dollars set on a yearly basis; this would include identifying promotions, needed headcount, and any reductions or internal transfers.    Responsibilities:   Client & Industry Thought Leadership - conduct ‘Top-to-Top’ client meetings, conference papers, white papers, articles, etc. Strategy and marketplace positioning – deliver strategic assessment and opportunity gap analysis, marketing materials, sales training, etc. Be an experienced, trusted and responsive business partner in the pharmaceutical marketing and brand management space, building TNS Healthcare’s reputation and credibility Observe market trends, meet with clients to understand unmet/emerging needs Create, test, develop service enhancements and new concepts to expand the AoE products and services to increase market share and improve margins  Work across TNS; stay up to date on all AoE offerings Lead AoE to win increasing dollar volume and percentage of proposals. Lead the capabilities and proposal development process for the AoE Ensure consistency of approach for AoE projects, reflecting TNS point of view in proposals, design, and final client deliverables. Lead team to ensure that projects are completed within budget (expenses and labor) and delivered on time, by providing direction and guidance to internal staff. Stay current with pharmaceutical markets, how they function, the trends and influences, and the global point of view.  Adapt the offerings of TNS Healthcare to maximize this changing client landscape. Directly participate and oversee the development of proposals to meet identified Client opportunities.  Work with the Account Executives to clarify the business need and the situational details.  Determine the Preferred methodology and the most compelling way to communicate our value to the client.  Have final review and approval of all proposals emanating from the AoE.  Where available, meet with the Client team pre-sales and during the proposal presentation to directly communicate our value. Qualifications and experience required:   Bachelor’s degree;  Master’s degree or PhD preferred A minimum of 15 years of industry relevant experience either on the client or agency side Demonstrated ability to develop winning proposals that meet Client's business needs.  Proven track record of meeting with potential clients before and during sales presentations in order to maximize the company's ability to win. Demonstrated experience in interacting with senior members of Client organizations. Demonstrated track record of Thought Leadership including publishing or major speaking engagements. Proven track record managing at the strategic business unit level or above: solid understanding of P&L ; strategic thinker, able to translate financial objectives into business practices A successful history of building high performing teams who feel personally accountable for their work and a collective responsibility to their team-mates.
