This position serves as technical resource supporting refineries' efforts to improve operational excellence with respect to health and safety. Provides regulatory interpretation to refineries' health and safety staffs on application of rules, regulations, and industry practices. Leads development and implementation of safety and health initiatives. Participates in location audits for compliance assurance and safety performance assessment.
Key Job Responsibilities:
Serves as technical resource to Refining organization. Performs research/assessment of regulatory requirements to determine impact on refinery operations. Provides regulatory interpretation to refineries' health and safety staffs on application of rules, regulations, and industry practicesLeads development and implementation of safety and health standards and initiatives. Collaborates with field health and safety staffs to define policies, procedures, and processes to insure standardization across all refineriesAssists with accident/incident investigation and root cause analysis as necessaryParticipates in location audits for compliance assurance and safety performance assessment. Assists with regulatory audits or investigations. Participates in the development of corrective action(s) to resolve safety deficiencies cited in audits and prevent recurrenceLeads ad hoc field health & safety work groups and project teams regarding the development, implementation and conduct of H&S programs or activitiesParticipates in development of education and awareness initiatives for health and safetyServes as health & safety role model. Positively reinforces Tesoro's safety/operational excellence tenetsPerforms data analysis and evaluation of health and safety metrics to determine and recommend effective and efficient solutions as necessary
Education and Experience:
The selected candidate should posses a Bachelors in safety-related discipline or relevant work experience may be substituted. Certified Safety Professional preferred. Minimum of 10 years progressively responsible experience administering health and safety programs and initiatives in petrochemical industry including a minimum of 5 years experience supervising staff.
