IDC's Product, Project and Portfolio Management (PPPM) program is seeking a Research Manager who is focused on the impact that PPPM solutions are having on the software industry. The Analyst will play a key role in the program in all aspects of research and consulting activities. IDC's PPPM program provides a world wide and North American market view of Product Lifecycle Management (PLM), Project and Portfolio Management (PPM), Engineering Applications and Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) and the supporting ecosystem. Additional research is conducted in New Product Development and Introduction (NPDI), Architectural Engineering and Construction (AEC) software, and the use of PLM solutions in adjacent vertical markets.

The Analyst will cover business opportunities and challenges vendors face in the worldwide and North American software markets as related to the introduction and growth of PPPM. The successful candidate will be expected to develop a profile with clients and in the industry at large as an expert on PPPM business issues. The insight provided by this role will help facilitate clients in their ability to make informed decisions on their PPPM strategy at a corporate level.

The Analyst will be responsible for program support to gather qualitative and quantitative information, synthesize and analyze industry trends in a logical and forward thinking manner, write and publish research reports, develop market forecast and market revenue share reports, analyze and report on demand-side survey data, and support client inquiries and briefings. The position will require the development of in-depth knowledge of the relevant market, and vendors' service offerings and strategies through regular contact with vendors and customers.

The Analyst will also work with clients and prospects on tactical and strategic planning, participate in and lead consulting engagements, present research and insight at industry events, to clients, and to the trade and business press, and work closely with IDC sales and marketing to develop client prospect strategies and communicate/promote IDC's subscription research and consulting. The Analyst will help with operational aspects of the program, such as financial tracking/reporting and maintaining records of client interaction. Ultimately, the Analyst will be expected to make a positive contribution to the financial success of the PPPM program.

Required Skills:

- Good working knowledge of standard office applications (Microsoft Office Word/Excel/PowerPoint).
- Client and results-oriented.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
- Ability to develop working relationships with vendor executives.
