Job duties include: * Maintain updated product/vendor information * Work with Management to establish current prices and verify minimum orders and mailing addresses on items not formally bid * Assist company in defining purchasing needs and resolving associated problems * Perform purchasing duties within guidelines * Interview and qualify vendor representatives * Develop and maintain purchasing policies and procedures * Conduct reviews, provides analysis, and submit written reports as required * Assist Warehouse and Management manage inventory levels to avoid stock outs, long lead times, and excess and slow/no move stocks * Assess vendor responses for prices, terms and conditions, and meeting specifications * Process purchase orders and matches POs with packing slips and invoices to ensure accuracy of material recorded as received * Monitor and perform follow up activities necessary to ensure timely processing of orders and requisitions; prepares correspondence and develops written reports of findings and recommendations * Administer contracts with vendors, ensuring minimums are either achieved or are mindful in order to maintain favored customer status and discounts; identify opportunities for additional annual contracts. * Seeks and negotiates pricing on substitute and other products with vendors as required to obtain the best price/service balance * Develops and maintains pricing/part number databases for products; identify high usage and high turn items for warehouse stocking consideration * Ensure proper maintenance of all records and files, i.e., on-line vendor files, direct reimbursements, purchase orders, change orders, receiving items.Skills: Has thorough understanding of and experience with: * Min/max order quantities, order point, EOQ, safety allowances, lead times and other inventory control concepts and practices. * Forecasting processes and interaction with sales reps to obtain needed information for purchasing * Non-stock items, direct ship ro drop shipments, exception ordering, etc.Education: Associates or Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experienceExperience: Minimum 5 years purchasing experience       Company: Code Red Safety Location: Hammond, IN 46320 Job Status/Type: Full Time, Employee Job Category: Other Occupations: Other Industry: Business Services - Other Career Level: Experienced (Non-Manager) Company: Code Red Safety
