Project Management Office (PMO) Manager

The Saint Barnabas Health Care System is seeking an experienced Manager for the IT&S Project Management Office. This position will report to the Director of PMO and Service Delivery


The Manager of the IT&S PMO will lead the implementation and execution of a portfolio of projects and endeavors in order to support significant business initiatives as well as the attainment of corporate strategic goals. This individual will operate as a fundamental player in the strategic planning process for the IT organization and serve as a key advisor to the Director Service Delivery/PMO Will be responsible for managing multiple projects and initiatives, and accurately and effectively communicating all interdependencies, urgent issues and high priority risks The PMO will evaluate and staff proposed and approved technical, clinical and business focused projects in direct alignment and support of the Saint Barnabas Healthcare System The Manager of the IT&S PMO will support this directive by ensuring that all projects administered by the PMO adhere to best practices and standard approaches for program and project management This individual will support and enhance processes, procedures, governance and the tools utilized to execute and support business, clinical, and technological applications along with IT focused technologies within the portfolio that are approved and budgeted for implementation This includes all aspects of project, program and portfolio planning as well as assessment of the priorities detailed within the portfolio. This position involves support and barrier removal to all projects and endeavors executed by the PMO team as well as partnership with all Saint Barnabas leaders, stakeholders, and sponsors in order to ensure programs and projects are delivered on-time and within budget The Manager of the IT&S PMO will lead and mentor all PMs, and other parties within the team and provide guidance surrounding successfully executing the entire life cycle of projects within the Saint Barnabas Healthcare System culture


Following are additional key details surrounding the responsibilities of the position:


* Conduct validation points to ensure that all members of the PMO maintain project documentation

* Serve as an escalation point for high-level and urgent issues and risks that impact project timeline, scope, quality and/or financials

* Maintain a strong hold upon metrics necessary to manage a PMO as well as to provide status updates to Project Sponsors, Stakeholders, and Executives within the organization

* Validation that projects implemented by PMO team members adhere to best practices and standard approaches for program and project management

* Continual improvement of project management related processes

* Balancing of resources and capacity management of work effort to ensure high priority projects and initiatives that involve the PMO receive the necessary amount of focus and required skill sets to instill success

* Incorporation and support of project governance and stakeholder support structure

* Instilling efficient, effective and concise communication surrounding all project matters throughout the life cycle of all projects implemented by the PMO

* Providing mentoring skills surrounding the management, monitoring, and tracking of project-related costs and all facets and knowledge areas within the life cycle of a project and/or program.



Bachelor's degree in business administration or other related field. Masters Degree in business administration or other relevant field is preferred
Certification as a Project Manager Professional (PMP) is required
Demonstration of involvement in professional project management organizations
Effective and efficient leadership skills
Excellent oral and written communication skills
10 years or more experience in progressive information technology position, healthcare positions and/or relevant areas of business
Minimum of five years proven project management experience
Knowledge of project management best practices as well as comprehensive automated project management tools such as MS Project, SharePoint, @Task, Visio, etc
