Location:US-MA-Boston Job Number:BOS0002R Employee Status : Regular Job Type :Experienced Schedule : Full-time Description The People Consultant/HR Generalist serves as the first point of contact for the firm's employees and leaders in the Financial Services office. This individual will be focused on the Insurance Assurance practice, as well as other Boston-based FSO people matters. This individual must possess a deep understanding of the business directions/needs of the practice and know the firm's people and people issues. The People Consultant helps to ensure successful implementation of key, high-touch processes and initiatives, in line with business strategies. Responsibilities Serve as the first point of contact for employees and leaders in the Insurance practice in New York and Boston, as well as other Boston-based FSO people matters. Assist in the execution of compensation processes, including merit increases, compensation adjustments, and recognition awards. Support People Development processes, including performance management; annual reviews; career development/mapping; coaching and mentoring; integration of processes and programs; exit interviews including referral for outplacement counseling as appropriate; and terminations, including managing litigation risks. Serve as a key point of contact for business leaders/partners for the practice or in the geographic area. Serve as the first point of contact on employee relations issues; manage/handle issues as appropriate (communicating with People Team Leaders); and escalate issues, as needed, to People Team Leaders. Demonstrate knowledge of diverse HR functions through extensive experience and be recognized for that expertise. Manage complex HR projects with minimal direction. Coordinate with the firm's Recruiting & Lifelong Relationships group to facilitate appropriate relationship with employees leaving the firm. Coordinate with Development Consultants on program implementation (such as the firm's Global People Survey and PeoplePoint). Coordinate with the firm's People Services staff to ensure proper handling of administrative issues and needs. Work independently on complex projects, although they generally recur. Often manage the work of others. Exercise supervisory responsibility. May supervise more junior People Consultants. To qualify, candidates must have: a bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience approximately 8-10 years of related work experience detailed knowledge of internal policies and procedures general knowledge of HR law and practices knowledge of professional orientation and service line-specific orientation programs the ability to identify and use internal resources the ability to apply advanced principles and concepts to a wide range of work in a complex functional area the ability to serve as a project manager for medium/large projects or oversee significant portions of major or highly complex projects; technical expertise may substitute for managerial responsibility strong customer service, facilitation, conflict management, change management, listening, responding, interpersonal, influencing and project management skills This individual receives general direction rather than supervision and work is reviewed for results obtained. The role will be based in Boston and will require some travel to the New York office.
