Location:US-NY-New York Job Number:NEW0000B Employee Status : Regular Job Type :Experienced Schedule : Full-time Description The Operations Manager Video manages a team of video editors and engineers, and assists the Publishing Technology and Implementation (PTI) Specialty Leader with managing daily operations of the PTI department. In addition, the incumbent may also be involved with executing the most advanced or complex technical and/or creative tasks as part of a project deliverable. The incumbent and direct-reports will use a variety of tools and technologies to implement the tasks related to the media of audio, database strategy, electronic dialogue, presentation graphics, podcasting, video, and/or webcasting. ResponsibilitiesEstablish schedules, prioritize and balance workload of Video Editors and Engineers. Develop standard operating procedures. Validate adherence by Video Editors and Engineers to these procedures, including testing and other quality assurance methods. Appraise, approve and closely direct research and development projects, evaluating the merit and cost of each against the needs of the business. Verify Research and Development (R&D) initiatives are completed, documented, and colleagues are fully trained. Identify, qualify and manage vendors and other resources for executing a variety of work. Assist the PTI Specialty Leader and Executive Producers with incoming project assessment, overall department prioritization and scheduling. Understand firm and industry business issues and how they relate to the overall marketing and communications strategy; based on this knowledge, assist the leader in the development of this specialty area, including setting goals, identifying outside vendors, budget considerations, etc. Tasks to execute include, but are not limited to: audio/video recording, authoring and set-up of database and collaboration systems, animations and video graphics, DVD authoring, editing audio/video material, podcast publishing, video publishing for on-demand streaming, webcast archiving, webcast encoding. Comply in a timely manner with firm, Americas Communications and Marketing (ACM), and PTI standards and procedures including, but not limited to, visual identity (branding), approvals (Standard Communication Organization and Retrieval (SCORE)), project management, billing, and time tracking. Act as a business advisor to clients, project managers, producers, and other project requesters on the most effective approaches and methods of implementation to achieve their strategic goals via the functional areas within PTI. The incumbent should possess the ability to: rapidly solve problems and make decisions during the production of live events, recognize potential issues and make decisions throughout a project that balance the need to meet a deadline and still meet the original requirements of the project, identify opportunities for repurposing content for additional audiences or to add convenience for the consumption of the message by the target audience. Has direct responsibility for supervising department personnel, i.e., sets goals, assigns work, reviews performance, and training and development of staff members to develop their skills and maintain state-of-the-art knowledge in their area of responsibility. Must be able to make decision, such as hire/fire, and overcome obstacles with minimal supervision. Strong influencing skills are required to work with other departments or other area leaders. Travel or an extended work day is required as needed to meet deadlines. To qualify, candidates must have: a bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience approximately 10+ years of relevant experience some management experience is preferred excellent project management, client service, team building and interpersonal communication skills comprehensive knowledge of information technologies proficiency in many of the following software applications: After Effects, AVID Media Composer, Boris FX, Dreamweaver, Lotus Notes and Domino Designer, Media Cleaner, Photoshop/Fireworks, PowerPoint, Pro Tools/SoundForge, 3D Modeling, such as LightWave proficiency in many of the following skill areas: Cascading Style Sheets, Flash, HTML/XML/XSLT, Javascript, Lotuscript, .NET, Audio/Video Editing, Windows Media technologies ability to rapidly learn new technologies on a frequent basis and as part of a project
