Operations Manager, MSP

U'SAgain is an innovative recycling company with locations in many major cities, including the Twin Cities, Chicago, Milwaukee, St Louis, and Seattle. We divert used clothes, from becoming landfill, for reuse in the US and abroad.

We collect the clothes by placing drop-off boxes in outdoor areas easily accessible to the general public. The boxes are typically placed at grocery stores, gas stations, shopping centers, churches, schools or similar places where many people have access.

U’SAgain in the Twin Cities area currently has 600 clothes collection boxes in the territory.


The Operations Manager oversees the production, shipping and receiving of the warehouse and supervises all warehouse staff and contractors.


The warehouse receives 80-160,000 lbs of material on a weekly basis depending on time of year that needs to be handled, categorized, packed and shipped. The majority of the material is clothing and shoes that are baled and packed in cap-sacks respectively, but there is also a certain percentage of miscellaneous and trash that need to be turned into value.


The operations manager keeps track of all material coming in to the warehouse by weight, and logs everything that leaves the warehouse. In the years to come a computerized system will have to be developed for receiving and recording the material and the new system need to be implemented.


The operations manager is responsible for workers in the warehouse and production and for the independent contractors in the collection.


The operations manager reports to the General Manager.


Responsibilities & Work Detail: (in general)


Production:
Plan production and secure that all incoming clothes, shoes and misc. are processed and prepared for shipping right away within the norms

Maintain good order and systems in the warehouse

Maintain good safety standards in the warehouse

Secure that all products are up to standard and meet the specific requirements of the customer

Perform quality control on finished products

Make sure that we have all necessary packing materials available when needed (wire, capsacks, propane, bags …..)

 

Develop efficient systems for categorizing and storing of misc. housewares and toys

Develop new ways to sell the housewares/toys

Find organizations to donate certain items to (winter coats, etc.……)

Develop and promote recycling within the company

Manage drop box refurbishment and operations

 


Shipping:
Communicate with broker, freight forwarders and truckers about outgoing loads

Make loading plan (based on production)

Make packing lists and other documentation for loads

Manage the load of trailers and containers and/or work with shipper to ensure correct and timely loading


Administration and reporting:

Prepare and send weekly accounting to Head Office

Stay within budget and follow established key figures

Monitor and calculate production bonuses for the warehouse workers

Prepare payroll information

Perform daily and weekly stock count, calculate waste percentage, and report to GM

Prepare and send weekly collection and sales report to broker and GM

Ensure a good level of customer service and response time for handling issues


Personnel:
Maintain the correct number of warehouse staff

Keep attendance and performance logs

Address performance and discipline issues with employees

Train incoming and existing personnel to perform needed functions and safety


Requirements & Qualifications:

Background in warehouse management

Dispatch

Independent Contractor Management

Good knowledge of Microsoft Applications, and other general computer programs

Be able and willing to perform all the functions in the warehouse and production

Have hiring and firing experience

Spanish language an advantage
