Mid Level Developer - Java & PHP

Global Compliance Services, a global provider of ethics and compliance solutions to the Fortune 1000, seeks a Mid-Level Software Developer – Java & PHP to join our fast-paced Production Development  Department, located in our corporate headquarters in the Ballantyne area of south Charlotte. The general purpose of the mid-level Software Developer – Java & PHP is to solve business needs by creating and implementing technology-based solutions.  Their primary job function is to work in a team to design, build, test, deploy, and support software and hardware systems.  Will also serve in a mentoring role to less-senior developers.

The following Software Developer – Java & PHP position is now available:

 

RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES:

 

· Gathers requirements for system specification

· Estimates timelines and effort and risk associated with satisfying specific system requirements

· Develops software systems according to established specifications and timelines by writing software code

· Communicates with internal and external clients as necessary to implement systems

· Develops and executes test plans for unit and system level testing in accordance with specifications

· Develops database schemas and access methods as necessary to support system development

· Works with users and other members of the Information Technology group to identify and solve system problems

· Modifies systems to add new capabilities, address deficiencies, and correct problems

· Participates in appropriate meetings, seminars and in-house training sessions

· Provides backup/coverage for other developers as necessary

· Carries out all responsibilities in an honest, ethical and professional manner

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

 

· Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field, or sufficient work experience

· General experience in database design, OO Analysis and Design, and software architecture

· 2 or more years professional experience in developing applications using Java programming language

· 2 or more years professional experience in developing applications using PHP programming language

· Experience working with Java Server Pages and Java Servlets

· Experience working with Microsoft SQL Server

· Experience working with MySQL

· Experience working with Linux

· Knowledge of Tomcat and Apache server environments

· Demonstrated success in developing and implementing software applications in business environments

· Experience working with Perl is a plus

· Experience working with Oracle is a plus

· Experience working with JBOSS is a plus

· Experience working with J2EE & EJB is a plus

· Ability to solve practical problems and carry out responsibilities under minimal supervision

· Ability to effectively organize and manage time for successful project completion

· Typing skills sufficient to quickly and consistently write application code with minimal typing errors

· Strong customer and results orientation

· Ability to interact effectively at all levels and across diverse cultures

· Ability to function as an effective team member

· Ability to adapt as the external environment and organization evolves
