Manager, Market Analytics

Occupation: Business Analysis/Research Position Summary • Constructs and refines analytical models designed to forecast specific markets, product revenues, expenses, market share, etc. • Works with internal customers, e.g., New Product Planning, Marketing Strategy, Business Development, Portfolio, Finance, etc, to refine assumptions to ensure robust outputs from analytical models • Participates in primary market research and competitive intelligence to ensure high quality integration with analytical models • Runs detailed scenario analyses to support key decisions on development projects • Works with internal customers to effectively communicate results of analyses with input from Director Responsibilities • Receives assignments in the form of objectives and determines how to use resources to meet schedules and goals. • Works on issues of diverse scope where analysis of situation or data requires evaluation of variety of factors, including an understanding of current business trends. • Follows processes and operational policies in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions. • Manages the design, execution, and integration of quantitative analyses of primary and secondary market data to assist with the development of recommendations. • Develops project work plans with minimal guidance that meet internal customer needs within time and resource constraints and applies structured problem solving approaches to business problems. • Works on multiple, simultaneous projects and brings them to completion. • Develops and delivers messages/presentations to senior management explaining various concepts clearly. • Selects outside vendors and manages their efforts as needed. • Designs and executes multivariate techniques in primary research or spreadsheets using data manipulation capabilities such as, pivot tables, macros, etc • Ensures that routine and ad-hoc projects meet service level expectations for quality and timeliness. • Proactively develops proficiency in the commercial analytics functions. • Handles sensitive communications effectively displaying a high level of professionalism. • May be responsible for providing regular performance feedback development and coaching to direct reports. Requirements • Experience with pharmaceutical data sources, e.g., IMS, WK, Verispan • Experience with scientific literature searches and epidemiology data sources • Strong skills with MS Excel and PPT to present quantitative data in easy to evaluate graphical form • Strong analytical skills, including market and financial modeling, including ROI/NPV and scenario analyses • A minimum of a Bachelors degree in a Business, Marketing or other relevant discipline is required. An advanced degree such as and MBA is preferred. Equivalent experience may be accepted. • A minimum of 5 years experience in the pharmaceutical/healthcare industry or related business experience which suggests a solid business acumen is required. • Excellent oral and written communication skills are required. • Must be able to demonstrate experience with 'best practices' in quantitative analysis. • Must be fluent in the market research discipline. • Experience developing presentations for audiences such as Executive Management is required. • Must demonstrate leadership, productivity and follow-through skills. • Solid understanding of sales and marketing, as well as good grounding in both clinical and financial aspects of product evaluation is required. • Must have demonstrated successful performance in strategic/operational analysis and planning, analytical techniques, financial and market assessments. • Excellent project management, analytical, and organizational skills are required. • Must have a demonstrated ability to work effectively individually as well as in teams.
