Java Software Engineer II

ServiceLink/Vision Global Solutions has an immediate need for a Java Software Engineer II.  The primary function of the Java Software Engineer II is to design, develop and maintain software or applications.  This includes features and projects that are medium to large and where the requirements may not be very well defined and designs may not exist.

 ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

· Designs and develops tools and applications to support business operations

· Occasionally identifies innovative solutions to technical or customer related problems under direction of others

· Comments code and creates related supporting documentation (i.e. design documents)

· Creates unit test cases and applies these against developed software or applications to ensure quality

· Debugs software and fixes defects uncovered during the testing process

· Works with other software engineers, QA engineers, technical writers, configuration management and Infrastructure team members, as needed, to ensure the quality and the successful rollout of new applications or features

· Provides post-release software and application support

· Mentors other developers as required

· Accomplishes all of the above in accordance with standard procedures

· All other duties assigned

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

 

· Bachelors degree in Computer Science or related field required or equivalent technical degree or work experience

· 3+ years experience in software or applications engineering and/or technical operations

· Work and/or academic experience building applications using any of the following:

o  Java, JSP, Servlets

o  Oracle, SQL

o  FTP, HTTPS, XML

· Effective in fast paces environment

· Collaborative/enjoys working in teams

· Self starter/motivator

· Creative and effective problem solving skill

· Ability to work on/manage multiple tasks concurrently

 

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

· Work and/or academic experience building applications using any of the following:

o  Toplink or other Object relational mapping tools
