IT Technical Writer

GIS is currently looking for an IT Technical Writer in our Chapin, SC location.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

o Write and edit deliverables including but not limited to:

·  Online Help

·  Context Sensitive Help

·  User Guides

·  Installation Guides

·  Administration Guides

·  Release Notes

·  Product Roadmap Documents

·  User Training Materials

·  Configuration Workbooks

o Work as an integral part of Agile development teams on a daily basis to ensure documentation deliverables are met.

o Conduct interviews with subject matter experts to gather necessary information and materials.  Assimilate information gathered and quickly learn and understand the products for which documentation will be required.

o Organize and write assigned technical material using various tools.  Must ensure accuracy, consistency, and quality both in the content and in the presentation of these materials.

o Maintain established Technical Publication standards with respect to order, style, terminology, and sequencing.

o Assist with other aspects of the technical deliverable process as necessary.

o Contribute to usability improvements throughout public facing sites - web content to guide users through application processes

o Other related duties as assigned.

 

The ideal candidate will have the following experience and attributes:

o A minimum of 5 years experience in software technical writing.

o Excellent writing, communication, and content presentation skills.

o Clear concise writing style with excellent grammar, punctuation and attention to detail.

o Ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-deliverable, time-sensitive environment with demonstrated ability to complete writing projects on time.

o Must be self-motivated, and track own progress to complete documentation for software releases.

o Experience with standard Technical Publication and multimedia tools of choice including but not limited to: RoboHelp, Dreamweaver, MS-Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Adobe Captivate, Adobe Flash, Camtasia Studio, SnagIt.

o Knowledge of HTML, XML and multimedia technologies to create online help.

o Working knowledge using SQL queries a plus.

o Experience in an Agile or XP environment a plus.

o Experience in the Insurance and/or Human Resource Management industries a big plus.
