GRANTS WRITER

Wake Health Services, Inc. has an excellent career opportunity available for a seasoned GRANT WRITER.  The right applicant will have several years of experience in grant writing, preferably in non-profit organizations. 

 

Wake Health Services, Inc. is a private, not-for-profit, comprehensive community health center serving Wake County, North Carolina, and surrounding communities. Wake Health Services is dedicated to providing all residents with quality medical and dental care.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

 

Explore public and private funding resources to enhance and expand existing programs and services offered by the organization.

 

Identify foundations, charitable organizations and businesses that could provide grants and financial support.

 

Act as principal writer in the annual preparation of the federal grant.

 

Maintain master list of grants submitted, timeframes, accountabilities and funding decisions.

 

Perform ongoing community needs assessments to submit with grant applications

 

Outline information needed and coordinate information gathering for major grant application submission and reporting.

 

Prepare progress reports and other forms of documentation that are required by funders

 

Assure grant submission and follow up report submission deadlines are met.

 

Write letters of appreciation to donors.

 

Build and maintain long term relationships with foundations and funders.

 

Understand and participate in Joint Commission continual readiness

 

Participates in all safety programs which may include assignment to an emergency response team

 

Perform other duties as assigned or become necessary by supervisor

 

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONSB.S. or B.A. degree in Business Administration or qualification/experience equivalent to degree or other degree/certificate with relevant experience.  Two years experience in grant development. Strong writing, editing and proofreading skills.Ability to easily change writing styles to fit the audience.Ability to produce high quality work on deadline.  Partnership-building skills, ability to coordinate and motivated teams, ability to work under pressure and an ability to think strategically.  customer service knowledge or experience with patient populationStrong computer skills with knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Powerpoint.Excellent work history with proven track record.Excellent data entry skills—accuracy is very important.Excellent communication skills.Ability to pass pre-employment drug test.Professional, clean, neat appearance.No convictions of serious crimes or felonies.Must be willing to travel to other medical sites within Wake Health Services, Inc., to assist other facilities.
