Job Summary:

bMighty is seeking a top notch Associate Editor who lives and breathes technology, has a passion for small and midsize business, and believes in the power of technology to transform business. The Associate Editor is integral to achieving this goal and establishing bMighty as the market-leading online resource for small and midsize business and IT decision makers.

Job Responsibilities:

 

·  Connect the dots between technology and business problems

·  Produce original editorial content such as feature stories, columns, blogs, interviews, profiles, reviews, slideshows, guides, and how-to stories.

o Produce stunning original features each week

o Post "must read" original blog posts each week

o Pitch dynamic new story ideas in weekly editorial meetings

o Cultivate relationships within the SMB, IT, and PR communities

·  Develop deep expertise and knowledge about IT and small and midsize business

·  Establish undeniable thought-leadership in 1 or more key categories

·  Review, update, and maintain the bMighty site each day

·  Produce daily and weekly newsletters

·  Collaborate with in-house and contract production staff for site maintenance, updates, and special projects

·  Represent bMighty at industry events, trade shows, conferences, etc.

·  Coordinate content sharing partnerships with external partners and other UBM publications

Contribute to special projects

 

Qualifications:

·  Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, English, or relevant field

·  An understanding of the technology and business needs of the small and midsize businesses and a passion for helping use technology to grow and compete

·  A great writer with flair, speed, and something to say -- and the reporting and research skills to back it up with facts, figures, and great quotes

·  Passion for technology and SMB markets

·  3+ years editorial experience (writing, editing, reporting)

·  3+ years online publishing experience (experience with HTML, CMS a plus)

·  Demonstrated analytical skills

·  Willingness to take initiative and seize opportunities

·  Excellent organization and attention to detail

·  Flexibility and ability to effectively manage multiple tasks and competing job priorities in a dynamic and constantly evolving environment

·  Self-motivated, flexible and able to work successfully with other teams within organization (Sales, IT, Marketing, Program Management)

·  Excellent excel skills, Cognos a plus

·  Must have strong communication skills and the ability to multi-task
