Director, Risk Management
Job Description
Protect the company from loss due to accidental and or insurable risks utilizing insurance coverage as well as safety and risk management techniques and programs.
On-Going Responsibilities
· Collaboratively working with all functional arenas to identify exposures, risks and trends.
· Serve as lead while working with functional arenas to establish standard procedures to mitigate exposures and risks. Develop and implement risk management and safety techniques, programs and initiatives including analysis and recognition of trends, risk mitigation programs to manage exposures associated with associate safety, products liability, contracts as well as risks associated with new business processes.
· While working with the Safety Group, develop and implement benchmark tools designed to measure and report on the overall cost of risk, effectiveness of safety program, benefits of proposed safety and risk initiatives as well as compliance with other legislation such as OSHA, DOT and SOX.
· Set company guidelines, standards and policies for insurance requirements for all approved vendors, i.e. Purchasing, Transporte and Real Estate. Provide authority to utilize or prohibit use of a vendor who cannot meet guidelines and standards.
· Direct and approve the development, implementation and standards of compliance for company wide Highly Protected Risk Program. Promote and provide guidance on both the Human Element and Physical Element safety programs in our distribution centers i.e.process safety mgmt., hot work permits, red tag program and lock outltag out. Work directly with the VP of Operations to ensure that all new construction, expansions and improvements meet the guidelines of our property insurance carrier and engineering company.
· Direct the management of the Insurance Program Administration; Certificates of Insurance, Bonds, Automobile Identification Cards, State Insurance filings, Contract Reviews, taxes and assessments. Maintain all exposure data to include the tracking of all property values, payroll, fleet, underground and above group storage tanks.
· Support VP, Risk Management to provide oversight, direction and participation on the Crisis Management Team. Work with other functional leads to develop and implement communication and risk mitigation plans for different crisis situations as well as business continuity.
· Manage application and reporting process to ensure compliance with all Statutory self-insurance plans, National Flood Insurance Programs, quarterly Property reporting, quarterly Environmental reporting and quarterly Employment Practices reporting.
· Provides direction and approves Division and Corporate contracts and lease agreements as they pertain to insurance coverage and limits.
· Direct the management of the Risk Information Systems to ensure the credibility of data in order to develop a benchmark tool.
· Direct the management of the benchmark process. Ensure the regional and division management maintain an awareness of liabilities, exposures and potential costs.
· Work in conjunction with the Safety Team to oversee the development and management of the safety standard of performance program to include approval of Division SOP calculations.
· Counsels other departments on questions of liability i.e.. . .Purchasing on product recall policy, Transporte on cargo policy and carrier contracts.
· Mentor, guide and provide leadership to department staff. Provide a stimulating work environment with strong communication and opportunities for advancement.
Qualifications
· Minimum Requirement of Bachelor degree with 8 to 10 years of insurance industry
· Specialized Knowledge Needed For Performance of Job: Risk Financing, Claims Management, Underwriting, General guidelines for OSHA, DOT and EPA
· Strong communication, organization, decision making, sharp negotiating and leadership skills. The ability to work in constantly changing and growing environment.
· Other: AIC, ARM or CPCU designations
