Database Analyst Project Lead

JOB SUMMARY 

We're currently recruiting a database analyst project lead who will have responsibility for the administration of the MBE SQL database systems. This position will also be responsible for analysis, design, implementation, and testing of development and production database structures.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

§ Configure, administer, and maintain the SQL Server databases for MBE’s development, quality assurance, staging, and production environments.

§ Implement data security to safeguard corporate data.

§ Manage data backup process and ensure ongoing data integrity.

§ Monitor the corporate databases to ensure the corporate systems are available to the entire franchise community.

§ Provide visibility to the performance of the corporate databases.

§ Act upon production alarms, anomalies, and changes.

§ Work with network engineers to coordinate network problem resolution.

§ Participate in the software development life cycle to ensure accuracy, integrity, availability, and efficiency of corporate data.

§ Review and analyze work products developed by software development group, including products developed by outside vendors.

§ Manage database changes using best practices in configuration management.

§ Consult with the software development staff on systems upgrade, or patch, to coordinate a schedule for applying the required changes.

§ Provide data and reports to the business where not available through production applications.

§ Actively contribute to ongoing process improvement activities.

§ Manage, mentor, and train members of the database team.  

 

REQUIREMENTS

§ Bachelor’s degree in computer science or technical training equivalent.

§ 5+ years of work experience in the database administration field.

§ Strong understanding and working knowledge of SQL Server 7.0, 2000, and 2005.

§ Good understanding of software development life cycle.

§ Strong problem solving and analysis skills.

§ Extensive work experience with the development process and integration of QA process.

§ Working knowledge of version control principles.

§ Knowledge of project management methods and practices, including experience managing projects from conception to implementation.

§ Demonstrated knowledge of development methods and practices in a multi-platform environment.
