Database Administrator II

The Background Screening division of Kroll, a world class leader in background intelligence and employment screening, has an opportunity for a Database Administrator II in the Information Services department of our Nashville office.
 
Under minimal supervision, the Database Administrator II provides database support for software development activities, including database tuning, data modeling, code review as it pertains to data access, and query tuning. This position triages, assesses, and identifies informational requirements of new or production systems, develops database specifications, and builds or maintains database storage structures and objects. The complexity, risk, size, and visibility of assignments will increase, commensurate with experience and acquired skills.
 

  ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Collaborate with Software Engineers and create logical database designs specifications pertinent to business requirements and software development. Code, test, implement, and modify database structures, tables, views, and indexes to support application designs. Create and maintain dynamic system interfaces and automated data exchange. Support bulk data migration tasks. Improve / maintain database performance and analyze performance anomalies. Troubleshoot database issues, identify root causes, and implement optimal solutions. Adhere to all data administration standards and controls to ensure database integrity and perform data quality assurance activities. Create and maintain detailed database documentation. Reverse engineer existing database structures. Support and provide guidance to Database Administrators I. Perform other duties as assigned or required. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
College degree in computer science or related field. Equivalent industry experience will be considered. Two years DBA experience in multi-database Oracle or SQL Server Or any equivalent combination of education and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the essential functions of this position.Must possess the following technical knowledge, skills, and abilities proportionate to the job’s
essential functions:
Microsoft Office products Microsoft Windows Multi-tier distributed architecture Web concepts and best practices Standard software development tools (e.g. software development languages and IDE’s, as well as testing, revision control, and project management tools) Real-time and bulk database loading technologies Querying Oracle or SQL Server databases Relational and dimensional database design HTML, XML Coding, unit testing, and code review phases of project life cycle Basic Windows administration and architecture IIS or Apache, and general web-based architecture Application architecture best practices Additional experience details:
 
-  At least  2 years experience SQL Server 2000
-  At Least 2 years experience with Embarcadero ER/Studio or CA ER/Win data modeling tools
-  At least 2 years experience supporting .Net applications
-  At least 2 years experience working with T-SQL creating stored procedures and triggers
-  At least one year experience with highly transactional systems
-  At least one year experience with SQL Server Clustering Technology
