Data Eradication Technologist

Position Summary:The Data Eradication Technologist (DET) will deliver onsite and offsite tape and disk eradication and destruction services to PeakData's customers across the U.S. This position will support one or more customers within a specified territory, but may also be called upon to deliver services outside of their territory. DETs are data protection specialists with a strong understanding of how our services protect our customer's most critical business asset - their information - and thereby mitigate substantial risk to their customer, employees, and corporate stakeholders.The DET will deliver onsite tape and disk data eradication services by leveraging PeakData's industry-leading technology and best practice service delivery methodologies, processes and tools to drive proper service delivery and consistency. The goal is to achieve high levels of customer protection and satisfaction, and thereby generate professional services revenue and margin for the company. This role requires a polished services professional that clearly understands and embraces the responsibility and accountability associated with ensuring the protection of their customer's information.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities: Performing all necessary onsite and offsite pre-implementation tasks, including but not limited to: Scheduling and securing facility access Understanding and adhering to customer's documented policies, processes, and procedures Validating prerequisites, assumptions, and responsibilities Managing delivery and storage of service delivery materials Setup of platform(s) to perform the Service Delivering the service(s): Leveraging PeakData's state-of-the-art technology, best practice service delivery methodology and documented policies, processes, and procedures Tracking and documenting anomalies and communicating in writing to PeakData and customer as necessary Generating required reports and certificates throughout the performance of the service Providing third-party expert witness capability Working closely with storage vendor customer service engineers as necessary to ensure that their documented policies, processes, and procedures for handling their equipment is followed to ensure the validity of applicable warranties is maintained. Interfacing with customer's representatives as appropriate. Communicating with PeakData's Engagement Manager(s), Service Delivery Manager, and Practice Director on a regular basis regarding engagement status. Performing basic troubleshooting and follow documented escalation procedures. Responding promptly to calls for service. Completing and submitting in an accurate and timely manner all company paperwork, including but not limited to: Daily time sheets Work orders Expense reports Acquiring and maintaining any and all PeakData and storage vendor certifications.

Required Technical Skills: Working knowledge of tape and disk storage industry, products, and protocols. Working knowledge of at least two (2) of the following operating system environments: Mainframe (MVS, z/OS, VM, z/VM) Microsoft Windows Linux UNIX (AIX, HP-UX, Solaris) Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills. Storage industry certifications are desirable but not required. Ability to expand into new technical areas relevant to customer and market needs.

Willingness and ability to travel up to 100% within a local service area is required; therefore, reliable transportation is required. Flexibility to travel outside of local service area is also required.

Minimum Education Required: Qualified candidates must have an Associate's degree in a technical discipline or equivalent field service experience.

 

Certificate(s): Obtain approved vendor certifications as required, as well as obtain PeakData Certification.

 

Experience required: Qualified candidates must have an Associate's degree in a technical discipline or equivalent field service experience. This position is a also an excellent fit for former tape and disk storage vendor customer service engineers, or information technology professionals with prior military experience. Candidates must be willing to submit to a background check prior to employment.
