IDC's U.S. Consulting practice is responsible for developing and conducting market research, and consulting assignments, primarily focused on IT vendors.
The Consulting Director will help develop and drive IDC's consulting practice with server and IT infrastructure vendors. This will involve developing proposals and managing custom projects from beginning through completion. The Consulting Director will partner with IDC analysts, sales and other IDC groups to develop and manage market research and consulting projects with server companies like HP, IBM, Sun Microsystems, Dell and others.
The individual will need to have strong client facing skills and a keen business sense to identify and write proposals in a way that meets clients needs. The individual will also be responsible for ensuring that the research is delivered on time, cost effectively, and with a high degree of quality. This requires the Director to have strong project management skills. The Director will also be responsible for gathering primary and secondary information to support the projects.
The individual should have 8-10 years of professional experience with a focus on client development, solution creation with senior level executives, project management and execution, analysis and writing abilities along with strong public presentation skills. The individual should have experience selling large consulting projects and advising senior level vendor clients. Experience working in an entrepreneurial environment and knowledge of the IT industry is highly desirable.
Experience in consulting and/or with a market advisory firm is preferred. Additionally, the following skills and attributes are desired:

· Ability to provide action able advice to executive level management

A bachelor's degree is required and a master's degree is preferred. This position is based in IDC's Framingham,MA office with approximately 10% travel.
