Construction Manager
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Construction Manager at our Santa Fe Springs, CA office.
This position requires a hands-on Construction Manager. Only those with a strong sense of ownership and an innate desire to make a difference need apply.
Purpose of Position:
The position will be responsible for performance and profitability metrics for both our Project and Service Maintenance Division. This Senior Manager must have the ability to develop and manage commercial TI remodel construction projects on time and under budget as well as manage the Service Maintenance cost, delivery and quality issues.
The best candidate must also demonstrate that they can be a good relationship builder in a role as manager for sub-contractors. Professional demeanor and excellent client development and management skills are required.
General Duties and Responsibilities:
The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned. Project delivery process: Responsible for managing projects within the Project Delivery Process (PDP) to ensure consistency of the business model that includes Project Managers, Superintendents, and Technical Labor. We are seeking a manager with the knowledge of a systematic project delivery methodology that will deliver a uniform and consistent final project outcome, no matter what the scope. Reviews and approves proposals: Directs and ensures the developments of all business proposals are clear, concise and accurate in scope and profitability objectives. Assures that customer’s needs are met by project team: Holds monthly check-in meetings with customer to assure the company team is performing to customer’s satisfaction and provides senior leadership toward the prompt resolution of any issues; and acts as final point of authority on customer accounts. Conduct Operational Meetings and reviews to monitor, delegate, direct and track to completion the actions and shifting priorities of your staff that includes Project Managers, Superintendents and Technical Labor. As priorities shift you will be responsible for assigning labor, material and equipment resources to the right place at the right time. Maintains awareness of customer account and project status: Reviews work in progress to maintain awareness of projects. Participates in executive reviews of projects for compliance with customer requirements, budgets and schedules. Acts as a resource to the company team during build process to ensure effective and efficient project delivery. Also maintain progress metrics for Senior Management review meetings. Directs Operational Administration: Manage communications, procedures, and staff roles and responsibilities. Also manages coordination between the Operations at headquarters in So. Cal. and all outlying regional offices. Prepares the operating budget as part of the business planning process as well as analyzing and controlling expenditures to conform to approved budget. Leads and maintains relationships with targeted customers: Develops and maintains personal relationships with key decision makers within all assigned customer accounts. Maintain a consultative service and sales relationship with key contacts on a regular basis while progressively gaining insight into customers’ strategic business plans. Understands target customers’ business needs and long range strategies. Develop and communicates pro-active business solutions. Provides due diligence in contract management: Participates in the approval process of all contracts. Ensures quoted fees/prices meet profitability objectives. Provides senior leadership in the negotiation of agreements and ensures all known risk issues are addressed while insuring completeness and accuracy of contracts.

Ability to organize and manage multiple priorities and projects. Ability to work in a fast pace and pressure environment Excellent analytical skills with the ability to synthesize and communicate business strategies. Ability to develop systematic tracking metrics for presentation to Senior Management. Ability to recruit, train and develop team members Strong negotiation and conflict resolution skills Systematic project development knowledge. Knowledge and education of business management processes and procedures. Business intelligence. Understanding of business finance, variance reports and cost controls Sound knowledge of architecture/engineering practices as they apply to the planning, scheduling and execution of construction projects. Actively deploys strategies to enhance staff retention and production Monitor changes and productivity of all regional offices. Ability to think in “big picture” terms such that the future implication of actions will always be considered Ability to make decisions quickly and accurately Knowledge of key issues and needs facing the construction industry. Ability to understand customers’ points of view and engage customers in decision-making process Ability to implement goal setting program. Ability to innovate, develop and communicate creative business ideas and solutions Ability to teach, mentor and guide staff to realize their optimum potential. Address performance issues with plans that include feedback, coaching and appropriate sanctions. Regularly notices and praises good performance Presents a positive image in dress and demeanor
