Claims Analyst

We currently have an exciting career opportunity for a Claims Analyst with responsibility for developing and delivering high quality, consistent and internally collaborative customer service to all workers’ compensation customers in their territory. Our Rancho Cordova, Callifornia location is the primary office but the position requires significant travel within a assigned territory to provide on site service to specific clients. You will lead in the development and delivery of a service plan customized to meet the individual fiscal needs of each customer. The primary focus of the position is customer retention, increasing PRIME PPO utilization and savings, roll out of medical provider networks (MPNs) and the development and implementation of temporary transitional early return-to-work programs. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following: • Provide customers with periodic review of the global operational and economic results of their programs. • Provide customers in the claims resolution programs with periodic global summary results (economical & operational). • Develop statistical reports that will provide clear visibility of all clients’ program progress • Roll out established medical provider networks, communicating and training front line medical providers where needed. Roll out includes the development of “sub-network provider lists” as necessary • Identify areas of PRIME PPO penetration opportunities to increase PPO usage, customer savings and program revenue • Lead temporary transitional early return-to-work initiative and assist customers to accommodate permanent restrictions to reduce permanent disability payment by 15% (SB 899) • Identify opportunities to increase utilization of Ultra ClaimsONLINE. Provide training and education to customers • Coordinate and partner with Loss Control to develop and deliver Workers’ Compensation Comparative Analysis and Risk Improvement Action Plans (RIAP). • Plan, coordinate and deliver a minimum of two regional WC training symposiums annually • Develop and implement outstanding client training programs • Customer resource for all WC Management Summary and Experience Reports questions • Perform research on Trends & Developments within the W.C. programs & produce reports with findings and recommendations • Serve as a resource to the Property & Casualty Group to address W.C. & Ed Code programs developed or adopted at the district level, that may pose coverage concerns and require research for amendment to the by-laws. • Active participant in Safety sub-committees pertaining to Workers’ Compensation, Ed Code and cost containment programs • Provide assistance to Districts in developing improved relations with current Medical Providers or searching for new Medical providers. • Attend ongoing educational/training programs for continuing development and knowledge of related fields. • Resource for WC Managers & Supervisor on customer service issues or large loss issues • Union Educational Ombudsman • Perform other Duties as assigned. MINIMUM SUGGESTED QUALIFICATIONS: A minimum of 7 years of workers compensation claims examiner, or equivalent experience desired. Broad understanding of Property Casualty Insurance and a Self-Insurance Certificate is highly desirable. Fire & Casualty license, or ability to obtain license within 1 year. Must possess a strong knowledge of both Workers Compensation Laws and the Education Code. Must have practical experience in establishing and implementing Return to Work programs. Must be an effective organizer, planner, self starter and leader requiring minimum supervision. Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills. Must be comfortable presenting to small and large groups. Must possess analytical and practical abilities. Flexibility to work in a team setting is required. Must have the ability to build relationships and create personal bonds with clients and prospective clients. Must be comfortable in a fast paced and continuously changing environment.
