Location:US-NY-New York Job Number:00DT6 Employee Status : Regular Schedule : Full-time Description Our Business Risk Services (BRS) practice, a specialty advisory practice within Assurance and Advisory Business Services, provides comprehensive risk services through a suite of strategic, outsourcing, and industry-focused operational solutions that help companies around the world evaluate and enhance their internal audit and risk management functions. Real Estate Advisory Service (REAS) practice is a specialty solution in E&Y's Business Risk Services (BRS) Group which provides comprehensive real estate, construction and other business advisory services and is the leading provider of professional services to owners, developers, builders, operators, capital providers and users of real estate. BRS/REAS seeks a consummate team player with a strong work ethic and excellent professional skills for the role of BRS/REAS Manager. This professional will plan and lead engagements in accordance with EY's methodologies. As a member of our team, the successful candidate in this position will serve as a member of multiple client engagement teams which primarily assist in real estate advisory engagements in a fast paced, service oriented environment. The Manager will work on a wide variety of real estate and construction clients including owners, developers, builders, financial institutions, lenders, pension funds as well as numerous Fortune 500 companies. Our team of Construction professionals assists companies in determining project contract strategies, implementing cost control and capital management systems and developing and overseeing construction schedules and costs. We also perform construction cost segregation analysis to minimize taxes and construction cost audits; and assist in claims avoidance and dispute resolutions to identify and reduce cost overcharges. The Manager will provide guidance to staff and seniors and support the senior management on the engagements.Responsibilities Work with high-growth clients and other market leaders. Establish objectives and scope of work; establish the engagement budget; and take responsibility for the overall execution of the project through wrap-up and final report delivery.Maintain a strong client focus by effectively serving client needs and developing productive working relationships with client personnel. Stay abreast of current business and economic developments and new pronouncements/standards relevant to the client's business. Display teamwork, integrity and leadership. Work with team members to set goals and responsibilities for specific engagements. Foster teamwork and innovation.Utilize technology and tools to continually learn and innovate, share knowledge with team members and enhance service delivery. Understand EY and its service lines. Actively encourage team members to contribute ideas and identify potential opportunities to apply EY's services. Specific responsibilities will include project management oversight for construction (including the monitoring of costs, schedules, etc.); process improvement analysis; construction cost audits; and property cost segregation. Strong writing skills and consulting experience a plus. Occasional travel required. Requirements A Bachelor's degree and/or Master's degree with an emphasis in Construction Management, or Construction related degree (ie Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering) Minimum 5 years related experience in Real Estate and Construction industry Basic research skills Excellent verbal and written communication skills Familiarity with construction drawings and specifications Ability to identify and extract key issues and risks from large amounts of information Proficiency with Excel and Word Willing to travel as client needs require To qualify for this challenging and rewarding position that offers an excellent opportunity for career advancement, candidates must have: a degree in Construction Management, Engineering and/or Architecture a minimum 5 years of experience with good fundamental design and construction project management skills, solid project controls/project engineering and/or cost engineering experience. a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience would be acceptable for those holding a relevant graduate degree Blueprint reading, construction cost estimation, and construction industry work experience required. CPA/CA, CIA, CISA, CFE, CMA, RICS APC, PMP or CCIM certification desired; non certified hires are required to become certified within 1 year from the date of hire; based on an individual's professional background, area of expertise, or industry focus, we recognize that other certifications, credentials, or experience may be more relevant than the listed certifications and therefore may be acceptable substitutes with written consent of EY's Area and Americas BRS leadership strong analytical, interpersonal and communication skills demonstrated integrity, values, principles, and work ethic strong skills in project management and engagement closure experience and interest in recruiting and professional development proficiency with MS Office and Lotus NotesSuccessful candidates must be available to travel as needed within and outside of the U.S. and work in excess of standard hours when necessary.
