Business Applications Specialist

This position is responsible for designing, programming, implementing and maintaining efficient PC based solutions (mainly MS Office Suite) to satisfy business requirements. The Business Applications Specialist will provide training and support on existing PC applications and internal system applications with the assistance of other key staff.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Work with management and department to identify and document business needs and objectives which are not satisfied by the current core computer applications.

• Work with the management and department to improve business processes whether through new PC applications or changes to the current processes

• Design new systems, integrate existing procedures into new system specifications as required and assist in the implementation of new systems. (utilizing: MS Office; Access,SQL)

• Download, process, develop, recommend and produce special reports in various electronic file formats not available by existing business system applications to meet client needs/requests.

• Prepare system documentation, user manuals, and operating instructions for ease and formal documentation for ease of users and smooth operations.

• Implementation of system development methodologies, standards and audit control.

• Provide training to PC users in the use of various IT tools e.g. word processing, spreadsheet and basic database handling.

• Prepare and perform client demonstrations of our internally developed products and services to both staff and Clients. Assist in the development of client presentations of our products and services as required by branch management.

• Design Macros for existing business system applications

• Support and train employees for the Intranet site.

• Work with management and department on the Business Continuity Plan for department.

• Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Post secondary certificate or diploma program college level in Information Technology

• Minimum 2-3 years of experience in programming PC based programs (Mainly MS Office Suite) preferably with some experience in the stock transfer/securities industry.

• Project Management using MS Project and MS Visio courses would be an asset.

• Presentation/Public Speaking courses for both client demonstrations and training staff on new software applications would be an asset.
