Assistant Controller

Our state of the art innovations in the ‘solar’ market are bringing practical applications to help illuminate everything from energy efficient street signs, to environmentally friendly commercial signs without the traditional dependency on the energy grid. 

SolarSmart is headquartered in New York City with manufacturing facilities in New Jersey.  SolarSmart is well positioned to become the dominant provider of solar powered LED signage in the United States. We are currently seeking a qualified Assistant Controller to join our growing team with the capabilities to define and implement financial procedures and controls, as well as enterprise software (TBD). Casual dress and low-key work environment of very capable senior staff looking to build a substantial company in short order.

Specifics include: Management of monthly close process, including account reconciliation, journal entries, and financial statement preparation; Preparation of monthly, quarterly and yearly financial reports and monitoring financial records and maintaining accounts; Monthly variance analysis and operational reporting; Preparation of periodic sales and use tax reporting: Preparation of support schedules to assist in income tax reporting: Serve as liaison with banking contacts, external auditors and tax advisors; Lead role in budgeting, forecasting, planning, treasury and cash management processes as required; Coordination of regular bank reporting as required Development of various financial and operations analytics and modeling exercises.

 

 QUALIFICATIONS:

   At least 5 years experience  working independently and in a team environment Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Finance or related discipline required CPA highly desirable A strong financial background is necessary, must be detail oriented, analytical and possess excellent communication skills, both written and verbal Must be flexible with time commitment based on monthly, quarterly and annual accounting cycles Start-up/early stage company a plus Experience with rapid scaling also desirable
