The Senior Business Analyst is responsible for all business aspects (i.e. technical, operational, and economic) of the requirements and analysis phase of a project or program. They may be asked to manage the work of other business analysts. They are also responsible for ensuring that the final deliverables of a software development project/program meet all of the intended needs of the business. They act as the primary resource in the requirements phase of a project, and the primary business representative in the design and development phases of the project. This person will need to understand the SDLC model and what their specific activities are in delivering a solid set of requirements artifacts, to understand the project standards, to develop and implement solid test plans and test cases/scenarios to accurately test all aspects of the system, and to maintain detailed and accurate documentation per all project standards.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
* Gathering and analysis of requirements. Should have experience gathering requirements through a variety of techniques to include: analytical techniques, interview techniques, data gathering techniques, current system documentation, business modeling methods
* Manage requirements of several projects within a program.
* Be able to assist in the project initiation phase to include scope and project planning activities
* Lead JAD/JAR sessions and conduct one-on-one interviews.
* Develop and implement test plans to ensure successful delivery of a project.
* Lend support to various business and technology teams as necessary during design, development, testing and delivery to ensure solid, scalable, robust solutions.
* Communicate effectively in both verbal (i.e. day-to-day discussions, team meetings) and written (requirements and design specifications) form, as well as have an overall ability to be clear and concise in all communications.
* Accurately determine, assign, track and manage project task, activity, documentation, time information per internal standards.
* Accurately assess the risks associated with each solution design / project.
* Support the development of other team members from a professional and technical level.
* Effectively manage multiple priorities on multiple projects.
* Effectively manage projects with multiple stakeholders and project managers.
* Promote current Ad.com Technology SDLC methodology and processes both internally within the PMO, and externally to groups throughout Ad.com. Drive refinements and improvements to existing Ad.com PMO processes and procedures.
* Perform additional job-related duties as requested.
Skills:
* Thorough working knowledge of the entire SDLC, IT systems and processes, methodologies and their direct implementation to projects.
* Strong business and systems analysis skills, test planning skills, experience with numerous environments and architectures.
* Ability to understand and apply common, object-oriented modeling techniques, including UML, use case, activity and sequence diagrams.
* Experience in data gathering and facilitation techniques (i.e. meetings and JAD sessions).
* Experience with requirements management, use case and modeling tools.
* Strong decision making and problem solving skills (i.e. design, debugging and testing) and experience with software development projects.
* General knowledge of, and experience in applying various gathering and analysis approaches, methodologies and models.
* Demonstrated leadership skills.
* Ability to coach, mentor and train personnel within a technical organization.
* Ability to effectively interface with business and technical resources of varying levels or seniority throughout the organization.
* Strong analytical and planning skills / experience with software development projects.
* Ability to juggle multiple projects and competing tasks.
Education / Experience:
* Bachelor's degree in IT or a related field, AND
* Required: Business analysis experience on large, custom development software projects
* At least 5-10 years of relevant industry experience
* At least 5 years of hands-on BA Experience
* Preferred: Experience with Enterprise Architect or Rational Rose,
* Preferred: Formal training in facilitation and negotiation skills.
* Preferred: Experience with projects utilizing object-orient languages in a mulit-tiered environment.
* Preferred: Experience with business process re-engineering.
* Preferred: Strong UML experience
* Preferred: Experience driving SDLC process changes
