Senior Broadcast Technician
Arbitron Inc. is a media and marketing research firm serving radio broadcasters, cable companies, advertisers, advertising agencies and outdoor advertising companies. Arbitron’s core businesses are measuring network and local market radio audiences across the United States; surveying the retail, media and product patterns of local market consumers; and providing application software used for analyzing media audience and marketing information data. The Company has developed the Portable People Meter, a new technology for media and marketing research.
Through its Scarborough Research joint venture with The Nielsen Company, Arbitron also provides media and marketing research services to the broadcast television, newspaper and online industries.
We are looking for a Senior Broadcast Technician, to join our Encoding Operations team in our Hanover, MD facility.
Primary Duties:
An integral part of the Encoding Operations team responsible for work flow, lab maintenance, equipment configuration, and inventory control.
· Configuration of encoding equipment.
· Functional testing and verification of encoding equipment prior to delivery to customers.
· Maintain accurate and on-time delivery of functional encoding equipment in accordance with established guidelines and procedures.
· Record keeping consistent with established guidelines and procedures related to the configuration, delivery and troubleshooting of encoding equipment.
· Test and troubleshoot encoding equipment returned from the field.
· Assist department technical personnel in the test and qualification of new equipment and software. Make the results of this testing available to Encoding Operations for evaluation. Part of this testing will involve field testing in where applicable.
· Support Encoding Operations engineering staff with technical and testing needs.
· Assist in assignment of workload to technical staff.
· Responsible for handling non-standard work items to completion.
Skills/Experience Requirements:
· Trade school or technical training in audio / broadcast or related fields.
· 4 years of audio related experience, preferably in a broadcast environment.
· Strong people skills. Must demonstrate a level of maturity that provides a sense of confidence and competency.
· Strong verbal and written communications skills along with demonstrated documentation skills.
· Ability to handle several projects and manage their respective priorities.
· Flexible and a fast learner. Ability to evolve along with the responsibilities of the position as the PPM project moves forward.
· Strong computer skills. Knowledge of MS Word and MS Excel preferred.
