General Manager, Westborough TV
The General Manager is responsible for managing all aspects of Westborough TV’s operations. The ideal candidate will be a resourceful self-starter with excellent communication, management and technical skills who can work effectively with town government, schools, and the community to create and implement a plan to expand the utilization of this important local resource.
Qualifications: Candidates should have a bachelor's degree in Communications, Video Production, or a related field, and minimum of three years experience in community access television and management. Business management experience and community outreach skills are critical, as well as a knowledge of cable television equipment, operations, programming, training and production. In addition, candidate must have strong organizational, writing and verbal communication skills.
Areas of responsibility: The General Manager is responsible for the development and maintenance of Westborough’s PEG access channels, as well as the day to day operations of Westborough TV Inc. The General Manager serves on the Executive Committee along with the president, vice president and Board of Directors. The General Manager also advises the Board of the needs and accomplishments of Westborough TV, and requests Board approval where indicated in our bylaws and also makes recommendations to the Board regarding the future direction of Westborough TV.
Staff Management: Manage staff, using good management practices
Community Outreach: Develop and maintain relationships with area non-profits, educational institutions, government agencies and other community leaders
Producer Support Develop a variety of ways to cultivate the producer community, including a regular roster of General classes or seminars
Facilities and Administration: Develop and manage budgets with the Treasurer and Executive Committee. Assist Treasurer and Executive Committee with financial management
Communications: Maintain frequent communication with producers, community and the Board of Directors
